Cheat meal questions..

Do I need to make sure my cheat meal doesn't make my calorie limit for the day? I'm just wondering because my dad wants to take my husband and I out for dinner (and I never get to see him), and my husband wants to go out for drinks as well. :worried: Dinner and drinks sounds like overkill to me, but I was just wondering what all the boundaries were when it comes to cheat meals.

Let me make sure I understand the question.....

Are you asking whether or not your cheat meal is supposed to or not supposed to take you over your calorie limit for the whole day??

I like my cheats to be something I don't normally eat or something moderately healthy + drinks.

You are going out to eat with your dad. When I go out to eat with my bf or for an ordinary cheat meal, I now try to be careful.

Personally speaking, if it was me - I would chow down and just eat light the next two days. But, not to get emotional, but as our parents get older we should spend every day we have with them having a great time - not counting f*&king calories.

I'm asking if they are suppose to take you over the calorie limit. I'm hoping *crosses fingers* my dad will agree to seafood, that way I can do dinner and drinks.. but he usually likes the places with piles and PILES of BBQ. :p

Girl are you competing right now??? Well hmmm probably not cause you wouldn't be cheating...or you shouldn't be anyway !!!

So back your question...I'm assuming that your diet is 100% clean 6 days a week here. Now why in the hell are you asking us what is good for you to cheat with or what your limits are....YOU SET THEM!!!! Enjoy yourself for gawd's sake.

If your diet is running your life you have a problem, I'm sorry if this is coming across harsh, that's not how I mean it. I just mean his is a lifestyle, a healthy lifestyle, and if you're sticking to it for 6 days a week, give yourself a REWARD DAY not a cheat day, to reward your efforts for your past week ;)

GOT IT???

I would say it depends on what the rest of your week has looked like. In the 7 day period, have you cheated any other time?? Were you spot on with your diet the rest of the time??

If so -- I say Feck it & get what the hell you want.......

LOL

whats the purpose of the cheat is the cals arent about weekly average....

and BTW - you dont need but one cheat meal every 7-10 days imo

lol. You don't sound harsh. I wouldn't be asking if I didn't want to hear what you all thought and know. :D

Part of managing cheat meals is to feel free to eat whatever you want or what is appropriate for the occassion, but to keep it within reason such that you aren't going to fly into a panic the next day because you gorged yourself. That is really one of the secrets to a healthy lifestyle is keeping your eating to what you need and then relaxing that to what you want but without the excesses that so easily accompany diet-obsessed eating.

Besides, a good, consistent diet can easily accommodate a cheat and a cheat is good for the diet. A feeding frenzy is something altogether different. If you feel like you are entering a feeding frenzy, even if you really aren't, stop and take a look at how you view eating in general. I.e. eat to live, not live to eat!

Enjoy a glass of wine & hunk of lobster for me ... I'm still 5 weeks out from anything bigger than a piece of sugar free gum as a cheat ...

I'm printing this...

.. let me rephrase that .. Until May 15, my biggest reward is a piece of sugar free gum.

(Somehow that doesn't sound so rewarding ....:worried: )

Sassy, we are all here for you. While my diet isn't as strict as your diet, I'm going to stick with it and stay focused. I do not want to go to Atlanta out of shape! I hope it is hot that weekend, so I can flaunt my assets!
