Chasteberry equals more Progesterone??

SonnyBlack

Ive been researching the use of Chasteberry extract (as recomended by Macro) for the reduction of Prolactin levels. Well i read up and i saw that this is used to raise progesterone levels in women??now im confused...will this raise progesterone levels in me???how is this supposed to help me then???

Bro, I talked to a herbalist about this stuff and she said that it could actually lower test in men. Of coarse I don't know enough about herbs to know one way or the other, but for what it's worth, that's what I heard. hth

vitex has the following phytonutrients and chemicals: Alpha-pinene, progestrone, 1,8-cineole, chrysosplenol, ...It should only be used by women.helps with pms cramps, increases breast milk,
helps with infertility..no anabolic action
Bump me some good karma>>>>>>>>>

It increases LH- which in women means more progesterone, in men this mean more test and slightly more progesterone---- but it is not totally clear- several people on AF have used it post cycle to restore libido and test- with good results.

as far as prolactin

Agnus castus extracts inhibit prolactin secretion of rat pituitary cells.

In our studies on prolactin inhibition by plant extracts we focused on the effects of extracts of Vitex agnus castus and its preparations on rat pituitary cells under basal and stimulated conditions in primary cell culture. Both extracts from Vitex agnus castus as well as synthetic dopamine agonists (Lisuride) significantly inhibit basal as well as TRH-stimulated prolactin secretion of rat pituitary cells in vitro and as a consequence inhibition of prolactin secretion could be blocked by adding a dopamine receptor blocker. Therefore because of its dopaminergic effect Agnus castus could be considered as an efficient alternative phytotherapeutic drug in the treatment of slight hyperprolactinaemia.

some stuff posted on AF

COCKDEZL:

Dopaminergic agents, such as bromocryptine, selegiline, L-DOPA, are known to reduce prolactin levels, and some have been shown to be useful in hypogonadal conditions. Selegiline has been shown to increase LH levels in hypogonadotrophic states, but I don't know if this is true in eugonadotrophic males.
The "pro-sexual" nature of these drugs is not due to hormonal changes but is inherent in their action. Dopamine altering drugs affect mood and libido.

A not too well known herb, Vitex agnus (chasteberry) has D2 agonist activity, and has been shown to suppress prolactin levels.

DEADLIFTEUPHORIA:
For the few of you who were interested I thought I'd share my experience with it now that I'm done.
I recently finished up using it (used clomid for 2 weeks total, used chaste for 4 weeks total). Some of you may remember it is claimed to normalize FSH and LH. Subjectively, I'd say it does raise test levels. Much more frequent erections, much higher sex drive. Whatever the active component is it seems to have a relatively short half life as I seemed to notice a libido boost the same day I took a high dosage but wasn't as horny by the next dosage. I've been off of it for a little over a week. Compared to before cycle I have a higher sex drive, but not dramatically. Ironically I also have bigger loads than pre-cycle, though no where near while I was on clomid. Overall the effect seems to be diminishing, though very slowly. I do plan on using it again next post cycle.

A while ago I posted about using chasteberry and arimidex, along with proviron. I used huge doses of chasteberry alone as well. My prolactin induced gyno virtually VANISHED, and has not returned.
Additionally, it certainly affectws libido. While it is nowhere near as effective as proviron in that regard, it CAN be the difference you need in a pinch.

about 1 gram a day.. but not enough is known really as to what effective dosages are.. this is one of those kind of experimental therapies where you get to guinea pig yourself... though 1g seems to be effective
