VerdanaDeepSkyBlueI was wondering if anyone knew if there was a specific certification that is needed to become a trainer at Golds Gym..I just got out of high school and i wanted to get started on getting my certification, but I was unsure about the whole certifcation thing and if there was a certain one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!-Amy

Hey there!
I recommend the NESTA (www.nestacertified.com). It's a lot cheaper than NSCA, NASM, ACE, ISSA, etc. Golds will take NESTA as well.
Give yourself about 4 months to study for the test though. It's not easy.
There are 125 questions, you have to get 88 right to pass.

PM me if you need more info.

I'd ask the management at the gym to see what they prefer. some are more leniant than others. some gyms will let you train at their facility with no certification at all as long as you have real world knowledge, experience and also happen to be covered with personal trainer insurance. good luck to ya!

Before spending any money or time studying, interview the current trainers there and see what kind of business you can expect. You might be surprised to learn that there isn't much hope for new trainers to make it there. If that's true, then finding out before you dig deep could be a real time and money saver.
