Centrum and other vitamins

I am new in the world of vitamins as I oped so far to get all my vitamins from food..

To all vitamins experts,

Do we really need all those damn vitamins, i.e., A,B,C,D,E and many others?

I just started to get CENTRUM and I was wondering what do you think about this particular one..

What else do you take and why?

Well, if you eat lots of vegi's and the food pyramid, then you probably do not need a vitamin. But most of us, will have a diet change from day to day and while we may get all of our Vitamin C for the day, we may miss out on what we need for Vitamin A, etc. That is where a good multi-vitamin supplement comes in. I have never heard anything bad about Centrum. It is a name brand in which you will probably pay more for, but it is a good vitamin. A lot of the protein powders have a lot of the essentials in them. Actually, I like taking a lesser dosed vitamin in the morning and then again in the evening. Just a personal thing.

A good multi-vitamin is good insurance against vitamin deficiencies. I take 1 One-Source with my first meal of the day. You probably do not need everything in it, however it is a good idea to make certain you are getting what you need. Watch your total intake of vitamin A though. If you are using a multi, make certain not to take aditional vitamins with vitamin A, and there is some evidence that B 6, taken in excess may be toxic now. I also use vitamins C & E. They are non-toxic, and are potent anti-oxidants.

Well said...Agreed

I normally take a multi in the a.m. with breakfast and another at around 3 p.m. (for the vitamin C)

I try and stick to iron free multi's

:p
