Cell Phones - Nokia 8260 vs. All

Ok... I've had my 8260 for about a year and a half now, and it's been a pain in the ass for the past few months. I do not get service inside of any building except houses, and my phone turns into a 0-1 bar of strength piece of shit if I come within 10 feet of a powerline. I don't think it's the service, though (Cingular Wireless), because my sister has a different phone and she consistently has better signal strength than I do.

Conclusion: My phone sucks - so I want a new one.

If I were to get a new phone with Cingular, I'd have to get:

Nokia 5165
Nokia 3360
Motorola 120t
Ericsson T60d
Motorola V60t

The V60t is super small and looks awesome, but I don't know if it's any good? Opinions? Fucking Cingular is selling it for $299 with a $50 rebate if and only if you donate $20 to the special olympics, meaning the rebate is only $30. AT&T on the other hand has it for only $50 after $150 worth of rebates. I managed to get my $200 8260 for free by demanding that they match AT&T's offer, so I might be able to get this phone for cheap with Cingular.

So... any cell phone or new service provider recommendations?

Thanks,
-Warik

Nokia makes good phones, but the lack of an external antenna makes some piss poor under bad service areas. I have an 8890 which has an antenna that you can pull out for better reception - love that.

the Motorola phones are excellent and very well engineered - then again, I own stock in that company :)

Ericsson makes some really fugly phones.

In the end, they all use chips from either Motorola or Qualcomm, so it is a matter of features (which are pretty much all the same these days in each price range) and the way it looks.

I have used Sprint, AT&T and a bit of Nextel and most recently Voicestream.
Voicestream (in this area, and Vegas, and TX) is the best I've ever had, they rule.

Thanks for the info Mr. Scrappy. The v60t looks l33t. Seems to have all the features I need, plus it has an external antenna, plus it's really small and light.

I'm going to call Cingular mierda in a little bit and see if my haggling skills have atrophied from lack of use.

Make sure you get one with the flashy antennae Nubby thing option.

Like, how cool it that when the phone rings, huh?

Thundercats... HOOOOOOOO

well it seems to me most of the times after a year or two you just need to buy a new phone because they seem to stop working right. At least that's been my experiences. Yeah I know some people who've have the same phone for a few years with no problems. But I don't think those folks used their phones that much either.

so has the mms stuff gotten to USA yet? you know, the one where you have cellphones with built in digicams, you take a pic, and send em to another cellphone, and he can look at the pic?

not really - just vaporware for us for the time being :(

they have just started selling those phones here, but the network isnt extended yet, so the coverage isnt good enough, so it aint worth it yet.
