Is this true?

My secretary got this message:

"In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls."

__

This would piss me off bigtime. I am not using up my minutes for those piece of shit telemarketers. My phone bill is enough as is.

The message had this with it: "Call this number from your cell phone 888-382-1222. It is the National Do Not Call list. It blocks your number for 5 years."

__

You're welcome. :)

I didn't think they were allowed to just give away your cell phone number. If that is true, then there are going to be a lot of angry people around.

Well fewer and fewer ppl have land lines now a days i suppose

I will not hesitate to cuss them out.

Actually I may not sign up for the Do Not Call List, it'll be fun cursing at someone.:)

umm yeah, i got a spam call from an army recruiter yesterday on my cell phone. it was a freaking recorded message, not even a real live recruiter.

This should be a sticky so everyone can get the Do Not Call List # mentioned in post #1.
Change the thread title if needed.

(come to think of it, all of my threads should be sticky's)

I got telemarketing calls on my old cell phone anyway and it was a damn recording from a bank or something financial.

if everyone got together and just made the calls drag out as long as possible, and not buy anything at all, the problem would solve itself with phone bills

on most websites, applications, etc. that i believe have a high probability of landing my info into the laps of telemarketers, cold callers, "please tell us how we're doing?" reps -- i don't even give my #. I just give them my email address. In 2004, there's very little reason anymore to physically call people unless they request it.

Heck, i rarely call friends and prefer to just email them most of the time!

I'm not sure I understood this correctly, but do you get charged for incoming calls?

Most people get charged for any time used on a cell phone. It's not like a home phone, where outgoing calls are the only ones for which you're charged.

If it's not during my free nights/free weekends, then yes I get charged no matter if it's an incoming or outgoing call.

Plus they would be draining my battery. :chomp:

Weird system, I only get charged for outgoing calls. You people are getting ripped off.

That's because your phone company knows you have no friends and nobody calls you.

:)

That's very true, and it would be a plausible explanation if it weren't for the fact that that this goes for everyone. Nobody at my part of the world pays for incoming calls, which is strange considering I live in the most expensive country in the world.
Everything is subjected to taxation and stupid price rules. And we are all dumb fucks (pardon my french) for putting up with it.
A bottle of vodka is about $40-45, a sixpack of beer cost approx. $10. The same goes for a 20 pack of cancersticks. Gasoline is $12 pr. litre. And 2lb of a decent tup of proteins is about 50 bucks. And don't get me started about the price for sex. That's ludicrous, even without the remedy for crabs.

So for the love of all that is holy, don't tip the phonecompanies of your weird policy's. I'm broke enough as it is
Thank you ;)
