Cat Owners & Morning Wake Up Calls!

I have a little annoyance with my cats. I've got two cats, Miso (Mee-So) and Juno.

Both are neutered males and here's some more info:

Miso is a 1.5 yr old active, heavier black/white male. Juno is an 8 month old, active, lean tabby kitten. Because Miso ate Iams Kitten Dry Food for longer than a year when Juno came along, he was a little chubby. I have been feeding them both Iams Adult Light Dry Food in separate rooms and 1/2 daily recommended portions first thing in morning and around my dinnertime at night.

Since then, they both are accustomed to waking us up each morning for their first feeding. I try to lock them out, but Juno cries so loud, it keeps me up. Miso scratches at the door. Usually, they end up waking me up early, which REALLY bothers me more! I guess a small fan for white noise may help?

So, question is: How do I keep them from waking me early each morning to feed them, without allowing them to get fatter from free feeding dry food? Is this possible or if I want to watch their weight, then am I forced to feed them in separate rooms, allocated amounts twice daily?

PS One huge problem is right now Juno wolfs down his food as if it were his last. He even tries to eat Miso's food after he's done, so am I forced to lock him in his room until Miso is done. HELP a tired morning person! TIA.
