Casenite tastes like crap

I just bought some caseinite from proteinfactory and there is something wrong somewhere I think :( . I mixed it just like I mix my whey; 2 scoops with 10 oz of water....that wasn't going to work, too thick, so I put probably 10 more oz of water and it was ok, but still a little thick for the amount of water....then to mix it was a pain, then to drink? It didn't taste too good.

Should I have had proteinfactory mix some chocolate or something in there? THey didn't ask, I didn't know

Try adding some non-fat cocoa and some artificial sweetener. If you want, you can blend some instant coffee granules into the mix, too. It should taste like mocha that way. I've never tasted pure micellar casein or calcium caseinate, though.

Personally, I prefer thick shakes. Watery whey shakes just don't do it for me.

I'm experimenting with a couple of proteinfactory mixes, and they do taste awful, but that's just the nature of the beast.

Just keep experimenting with additives and I'm sure you'll strike up on a decent mix. I've been adding a splash of vanilla flavouring and two dashes of ground cinnamon to mine, with just enough water for it to all get mixed, then hitting it back in one gulp. Doesn't taste too bad, but I'm still working on getting it right.

Good luck!

Me too Plornive, I live for Thick shakes!!!, and now after realizing Met-Rx is Full of TRANS FATs (aside I think from APM60's) I dont know what to do anymore, What thick shakes are you blending?

Sometimes I blend silken tofu. Its good for at night for a slowly digesting protein whether cutting, maintaining or bulking.

Try MoriNu "light" Silken tofu. Add splenda and citrus diet soda to help blend it. Then maybe add some cocoa, vanilla, berries, peanut butter, oats and/or whey if you want.

A ~12 oz. container of the tofu is ~120 cal, 20g pro, 2g fat, ~6g carbs (maybe some fiber). It is made with soy protein isolate, which is good.

I'm finally polishing off a 3 lbs bag of Proteinfactory whey isolate and let me tell you that was not fun. It mixed OK after you let it sit a while, but it tasted awful, even though it was sweetened with splenda.

I don't mind thick shakes, but frothy is something entirely different.

I also didn't save that much $ once shipping charges were added.

I'm looking for a decent alternative.

For good purity and price, try Isopure. It mixes *very* easily and *very* thin. Good for post-WO shakes with dextrose and/or maltodextrin. Optimum 5lb whey (~$25) is tasty and mixes well for whey concentrate. Mixes with a spoon.

GUys, when I say thick on the casein, I mean so thick that it would barely mix. I too like thick shakes, but it was thicker than lets say mixing an mrp from eas or one of the other mrp's. I am going to just mix with more water. It was just a paste, not just thick :(

I tired it last night mixing just one scoop vs two and drinking two shakes (a scoop each). It mixed a little better, but it still gets clumps in there. I am just mixing by shaking in my bottle. Do you need to put it through the blender, maybe?

As I have been drinking it more I have been able to fine tune the problems.... the taste isn't that bad, the bad taste is when you have to put the last "clumps" that become solid in your mouth to swallow :(

Meso-Tech's Choco Cream mixes up surprisingly thick and their ingredients are of the highest quality.

I just switched over to them from Met-Rx, it wasnt quite as thick as a Met-Rx but thicker than a Myoplex (next thickest).

It comes out of CANADA, has no hydrogenated crap, has EFA's, and the Taste was great! Im sold on this stuff.

I think a blender/Hand mixer is crucial for making your shakes nice n thick, I have noticed the longer I let an MRP blend, the thicker it seems to get, some MRP instructions actually say to let it blend for like a minute.
