god damn big brother is everywhere

read it in the wallstreet journal this mourning 8/4/04

tell how fast u go and breaking and other shit for accidents... i wonder if they know u smoke hippie lettuce in your car?

big fuck you to that those motherfuckers

in 90% of all new 04 cars

i bet i got a bitch box in my new car

No shit, I wonder if that is not violating your rights of privacy.

A car manufacturer putting in some kind of recording device into your car without your knowledge or ability to turn it off.

There has got to be a law against that, even in America.

Yeah they are 'mainly' used so that the car companies can dispute warranty claims..

reduces their costs......

But sure... the information could be subpeona'd to be used against you should the need arrise....

Fuck me..

I'd personally take mine out. I know some vette's and later model camaros have them.

normally id say its a good thing, but given how corporations use these sorts of things in such a way as to make satan smile, id say its not so good

Ive read about this a year ago in popular mechanics, its a computer that records the last 30 minutes of driving activity, speed, braking, turning, etc.. so insurance companies and law enforcement know whos actually at fault in an accident. I dont mind it at all since I don't drive like an idiot.

Exactly. I would just get schematics of the electrical system and yank the bitch out

You have very few rights when it comes to automobiles and driving, the Supreme Court has ensured that, so no privacy right violations. Actually, last year a woman had the black box introduced as evidence in a vehicular manslaughter case to prove she was speeding at the time of a fatal accident, it was in the paper. In my state everyone is given a mandatory blood test when there is a fatal accident regardless if there is probable cause to believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. Welcome to your police state.

You certainly could remove it but I'm sure it would also immediately void your warranty so...

Ah I'm not worried about the warranty because as soon as I get my new GT, there are gonna be aftermarkets parts galore which would void it anyway :p

Then the warranty isn't an issue of course. However, I wonder when the states are going to start requiring them as a matter of law and tampering becomes a criminal matter.
