cardio -- AM or PM

napolean22 said:
good point Kurz...and lord knows I need some health benefits from cardio after coming off a winter bulker (I don't do cardio when bulking).

Yeah, same here. Deadly mistake, my stamina is shot ... gonna take a month or two to get back to normal

If you want to turn yourself into a highly efficient muscle burning/fat storing machine do AM cardio everyday on an empty stomach whilst restricting cals hard

I did early cardio on empty stomach for about a month

swimming during the day

and worked out before 11am doing stuff like pull ups and dips, pushups and some other stuff

this was at my beach house back home since there was no weights or anything

I lost whole lotta weight but I would never do something like that ever again cause I lost whole lotta muscle with it, I lost most of my stregth, even my endurance went down

so yea I'm never doing that again

that was the good ol days where I had no idea what I was doin by the way

Yeah, saving muscle is the key. When I tell my friends I'm trying to lose the fat I gained over the winter they quickly recommend doing cardio first thing in the morning, empty stomach, and eat hardly anything throughout the day. Yeah, that will work for someone who doesn't give a crap about muscle. It's definitely different for a bodybuilder/strongman/whatever.

I'm only going to speak from MY experience.........I have ALWAYS done cardio on an empty tank, 1st thing in the am...........and I can get down to 5-6% that way...however, my calories are the same...no matter what.....I may up my EFA's and lower my carbs through this regimine, but def. keep my protein high...do I lose strength and size, sure I do........however, I keep it minimial.........just like bulking, are you going to get a little fat, probably.......is it a ton? Hopefully not......

i dont think it matters when you do it... all cardio does is burn extra calories... if your diet is in check, cardio is hardly necessary.

Cardio only makes up for an imperfect diet.

"I lost size. I lost strength." Cry me a river. Restricted calories is what i would say is the real culprit. I do cario on an empty stomach in the AM and keep protein high and carbs low. Works for me. I will also say that I guess all people respond differently to things, but just becasue you're not and AM cardio fan, doesn't mean it's not beneficial.
