Carb/Fiber Question

I'm counting all my macronutrient intake (cals, pro, carb, fat) to make sure I get enough pro, and keep my carb and total cals down.

In another post it was brought up that you can subtract the fiber from carb intake. Can I factor out the fiber in my total carb intake? Why? It makes sense to me - but I can't put into words WHY it makes sense to me. Can someone help me understand better?? Thanks....

I had the same question earlier this week and asked the owner of my gym I work out in since he's been a BB for years. He said that I should not count my fiber as a carb source, but am wondering too if that is correct.

Correct, the body lacks the enzymes necessary to break down fiber for absorption. Therefore, it will stay intake and venture on down the intrestines until it reaches your toilet...or in some peoples case, their underpants.:)

There is evidence that a minute amount of soluble fiber is broken down into short chain fatty acids in the colon, but this is a bit off topic.

Your answer is YES...don't count it as part of your carb totals.
