carb/fat Q.

I'm just wondering how low I can drop my carb/fat count too?

Right now, I'm sitting at 80g/day for carbs. 60g are coming from my shakes, and 20g from veggies (1 serving). Will it matter if I eat mixed veggies or just greens? I've heard different things.

I feel pretty good throughout the day, but I'm wondering if I should throw out the veggies? and keep the carb count to 60g.

As for fat, I'm assuming I'm consuming enough. I have 2tbls of virgin oil with my a.m shake, on meal 2, and my last meal before bed. The serving is 10g/fat for 2tbls. A total of 30g/day. Is this okay?

My stats are 5'7, 210lbs (lost 7lbs already).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Carbs... you can drop them down to as low as 10-20... which is what a CKD diet is.

Fats.... if you drop carbs, you want to raise fats.

But most often you want fats and carbs equal.

I myself am on a 60/20/20 split, keeping carbs and fats to a low.

Throw the veggies out? NO
Throw out your shake and get a low or 0 carb shake. Isopure is a good one.

Why should I keep veggies? What's so important to keep them?

If I incorporate them into my diet, each serving would be approximately 10-15g/carbs. That means, I'll be consuming more carbs then I should if I eat them. Instead of consuming 60-80g/day.. adding a few more servings of veggies will bump the total around 115g/day.

Don't I want to avoid carbs?

I'm perplexed. :confused:

veggies are good... like vitamens. vegs have your fiber. perhaps take a fiber supplemtn if worrying about too many carbs. maybe fiber supp and couple multi vits a day. i dont know too much about fiber supps. this is X territory

why do your shakes have so many carbs, go for CARB FREE or very low carb shakes and you can have more veggies in return

and 20g from veggies (1 serving). Will it matter if I eat mixed veggies or just greens?
I like a variety, but my belief is that greens are MOST important followed by reds; overall, I think you should just stick to greens

NO! that's a bad idea
and keep the carb count to 60g.
you can keep the carbs lower (even w/ the veggies) if you get low/no carb shakes

30g of fat w/ only 80g of carbs of a 210lb person is NOT very efficient or healthy.
You need at least the following:
Protein= 1.5g/lb = 315 g protein/daily =>1260cal from protein
Carbs= 0.2-0.4 g/lb = 40-85 g carbs/daily => 300cal from carbs
Fat = 1g/lb = 100g fat/daily =>~900cal
total around ~=2460 cal
your BMR is 2530cal, so you're below BMR

Mr.X,

If I were to eliminate all those carbs and keep the fat/protein the same as you've written, would that put me in ketosis?

Probably not due to the high protein intake; the protein can be converted at a 50% rate to glucose. You might be able to pull it off but I doubt it.
