Anyone own a car wash? i am seriously thinking about opening a hand wash, detail center, wheel center. but high end, new construction new everything.. i need to pick someones brain a bit.
Anyone?

and nood aren't you in nyc? seems like that would be one saturated market all ready.

Honestly bro, it's not something I would put my money in right now. The economy is still a long way from recovering, and things like high-end auto detailing are things that people pass on when they're cutting costs. I'm not telling you not to do it, and I have no clue what the market is like in NJ. But I am saying I think it would be a good idea to test the market (call or go to a few similar businesses, and see how busy they are). Find out if they say they'll give you a half-price deal if you bring your car right now or any time you please, or do they laugh and tell you they might have a cancellation in June that you can fill, if you're lucky, etc. Also, check the cost of any bonds, permits, and liability insurance. If your ducks aren't in a row for those things, it might only take one fine or one suit for damaged paint, etc., to SNAFU the whole business after a ton of work and $$$ to start it up.

Thanks Charles.
I've done a lot of speculative work and so far it all makes sense. This type of business is thriving where I'm looking to do it and potentially turning a million a year profit. Believe it or not. I own a very successful small business in ny now and am looking to expand into a different market. So far everything makes sense, I'm looking for more info on the particulars as far as expenses, business operations, unforeseen problems, ect. Doing all my due diligence. The thing I have found out this far location location location.

Most businesses that depend on drive by traffic are location location location

absolutely... i really want to do this though. I need to simplify my life. I own/ run an architectural metal and glass company now and its just beyond stressful and getting harder and harder to turn a profit these days. The business has been over run with lawyers and politicians. Believe it or not i can probably make as much if not more money owning a successful car wash. Plus there is great cash flow to play with (hypothetically of course because i always pay taxes)
I just dont want to work this hard to be quite honest but i enjoy working. This work is just stressful to the point u feel sick all the time and eats up about 60 hours of your week on avg if not more. its just not fun anymore. it used to be that u looked at a building after it went up and would say "i did that. i am proud of my self" and had some sort of feeling of accomplishment. now i look at them and say "christ im glad thats over" lol

Every time I go to the car wash its fucking broke down...fuck I'm mad now...I'm gonna get in a fight now

honestly bro...the detail shops here are booked solid right now
I just stopped in at my favorite one (who is pretty low tech but my god the man loves clean cars) and he can't squeeze anyone in for weeks

the run of the mill russell speeders down the road had a half a mile long line today and does all summer all weekend

you'll starve in the winter though if its not planned out right

I was on a waiting list for like 12 days before I was able to get my truck in last week to be detailed.
