car rental insurance

i was told insurance on rental cars was some sort of a scam and not worth it, as if there was some sort of loophole. is it a legit deal? anything else to know when renting a car for a trip? (i don't trust my p.o.s. car)

Make sure YOU buy the gas, not them (they give you options - tell em you'll fill it up before returning it)

Check your personal car insurance first cause most of em cover rental cars, so you won't need to purchase it from Hertz or whoeverthefuck

I think some gold or platinum or whatever credit cards have that included if you rent the car using their cards.

Get the rental insurance.. well worth it....

Get the insurance, if anything at all happens to the car you just walk away, you dont have to go thru your insurance etc. I wrecked a convertible mustang in Hawaii and had insurance, when I pulled in to return it with the door falling off and a giant smash across the side all they said was "did ya get insurance" I said yeah and they said "have a nice day" I never heard from them again. 6 bux well spent.
