Car Audio, what do you think is the best?

I'm going to put some 12" subs in my car. Which brands of subwoofers, amps and tweeters are known to be the best and carry a great warranty?

I have boston acoustic pro series components. They are sweet. get them at an ultimate electronics or audio king and you can get an extended warranty cheap

Well you asked a very good ?

Now it is a matter of what you can afford, so I will give you a idea of excellent system would be.

MacIntosh all the way on the amps, deck (head) would be a product from Pioneer, but it would be the Premier
line, indash cd player with a remote for cd changer in the trunk. I would choose two 10" JBL pro line 600 watt
power handling, one would do in a pinch very easy as a
mono power amp, with electronic crossovers doing the
freq work. Then some mids and tweets depending on the kind of music you listen to. This is where a system becomes more personal for your choice. It must perform
best for you, not just some body to impress them with, although that comes with the territory. Boston Accoustics is a good brand and there is a company from germany that are famous for there mids and tweets. I can't recall them but they should be available at any great store for car audio.

I worked in the car audio business as the G. Manager
years ago, but take my word for it, $2,000 is just the starting price for a great system.

Good luck and shop carefully.

FIRST, here is a web site dedicated to car audio.you will find a wealth of information there.www.sounddomain.com www.termpro.com both are sites I frequent and there is so much information out there.JBL, I know you can do better than that and you do not need to spend $2,000 because what he didn't tell you is that you can save big bucks on line and many places are authorized dealers so you will get a warranty. a nice cd player , alpine $250, component set of speakers $150, 1 4 channel amp for mids and highs $200 , rear fill speakers $80, a class d sub amp very effecient = $400 2 12 inch subs with enclosure $350 bucks and you can run infinity perfect 12's which are a lot better than jbl or you can go with orion xtr series or rockford fosgates . GO and check out those sites and look at what is being used and on sounddomain you can go to member pages and type in the make and midel of your car and see how other people with the same car hooked up their system.Going to the circuit citys and stores like that is the BIGGEST RIPOFF AROUND AND THAT MANAGER WHO WROTE THAT POST KNOWS IT!!They have outrageous markups and you had better take a look at who is doing the install because just because he or her got a certificate to do it does not mean they know what the hell they are doing. Here is a online shop that has all the car audio stuff you could ever want. www.thezeb.com check them out and later I will post the sites that are good to deal . DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND IF A SHOP CANNOT SHOW YOU A PHOTO ALBUM OF CUSTOM WORK THEY HAVE DONE RUN OUT THE DOOR!! I will post that info later or send you a private email later today with all the spots , oh I forgot www.ubid has some very good deals and ebay so go and look and I will get with you later on.

this is what i have

JL Subs (10" will suffice)
Prescision Power Amps
Alpine Head
Krystal or Boston Accoustics Seperates for the mids and highs.

TELL THEM TO MAKE THAT CAR RATTLE FREE I HATE THE BAD BOYS THAT LET THEIR QUALITY SYSTEM SOUND LIKE SHIT B/C SHITS RATTLIN ON THEIR CAR.

listen to different system setups and determine what you like and how you want yours to sound...Then decide how much your willing to spend, and start shopping. once you find what you want decide how it's going to be installed

im building a comp system now...its got 4 zapco amps: (2) comp 6.0s, (1) comp 3.0 (1) comp 1.0
a zapco sxsl eq and (2) zapco eq30 1/3 octave eqs.
(4) alumapro alchamy 12's
total of (6) Morel 6.5 midbass
(2) morel 5 1/4s midbass
(4) Morel 4" mids
(6) 1" tweets morel also.
headunit is eclipse moniter with cd with moniters installed in the rear of the headrests also...dvd for now is a portable unit..i think im gonna switch over to the kenwood dvd/cd unit.
power via a 15 farad alumapro cap and dual 160 amp alts. its all in a '00 crewcab ford 4x4. its in the process of getting built now...enitre entiror is stripped and the cab is being reworked for the install...expensive shit, hope it doesnt get stolen (:

DTO you must be in one of the Good Ole' boy states??correct??
im in california, why do you say that?? cause its in a crewcab?? i happen to like 4x4 trucks..once the system is done in this its gonna get a 12" lift via National springs, 39" swampers and the whole deal...not for everyone but i like it.

I'm actually happy your in Cali...I don't think the state I live in Needs anymore Crew Cabs...

Sounds like a nice truck though...I drive a 92 F150 XLT

sooner or later I'll get my dad to give me money so he can have it back lol...and combine it will my other funds to get a new vehicle

Sounds like a sweet ride...Going to do anything under the hood?

its a powerstroke so im gonna do the Banks system...along with the chip and exhaust..something that heavy and tall and all that audio equipment isnt gonna move very fast no matter what ya do to it.

true, and from a safety standpoint I'm sure you wouldn't want it to move that fast....how is the power effected in making it so big?

to be honest im not sure...but im sure that the big tires (superswamper Boggers) will 'bog' it down quite alot. .not sure if the gears will have to be lowered though, guess thats up to the shop thats gonna do the suspension. its not gonna be a daily driver though, its being built for sound-off comps.

Budget way
-rockford fosgate or JL audio subs (these are on sale alot even 2 for 1 sometimes)
-rockford, phoenix gold, precision power, or alpine amps ( 1 for the subs and one for the mids/highs)
-alpine head unit with cd changer controls

---- for the mids/highs I would use MB Quart or a some very good coaxials and have the low frequencies crossed over

--- make sure the amps have built in crossovers, it will save you from buy a crossover

I actually saw a mini bike like that on Ebay selling for more then $500...isn't it a mini ducati??The one on ebay claimed it could actually get up to 50mph

I just finished off my system in my car today. I did a lot of research and tested different brands and for less than $400.00 I got a Dual Bandpass Box with 2 10's and a 700W amp. I found all the stuff at canal street in NYC. Everything works fine and I have enough bass in this setup to literally hear my car 2 blocks away. You have to know what your looking for though. Other than that I have Pioneer 6x8's in my car and the pioneer head unit with the dolphins in the display. My head unit isnt the best and there are newer models out but Im not big into the car audio scene..Just putting a little something together to impress the ladies...A good light show inside the car with neons would do the trick..

Zapcos are definetly good amps as well, I had one zapco and one Preciscion Power Amps, the prescion running the highs and the zapcos running the bass (zaps got power like hell but I think PP's are def. better for high quality mids/high's. I had the two 10's JL's in a slammed Chevy S-10 with some 18" TSQ hockenheimer rims, exhaust system, billet shit in the grill, clearbacks, blah blah it was 3 years ago just when the new style s-10's came out - I still see people out here in cali setting their shit up the same way.

One thing I hate is when people slam any rims on a car and think b/c they cost 2-4 g or whatever that they will look good, some shit just looks ugly rims have to match the car..

i've got boston rally series component in front coaxil in back and a JL W3... i love the way that hits.. not too much bass, but just perfect for my taste and an RF 350 with a birth certificate at 450
