cant max out for a while- what should I do

Okay, I have a shoulder injury right now. This prevents me from maxing out on any ME bench movement.

So, would it be allright to do say- a max set of 5 reps, instead of 1.
This seems to be as heavy as I can go, for at least a few weeks.

what is the problem with the shoulder? perhaps you can just do a rehab routine for like 4 weeks or something.

its an AC sprain,
the only rehab i can do is wait, from what my therapsit say, oh , and make sure i keep up the cuff work

id just take a break from benching heavy all together. give it time to heal up. i would keep hitting the rotator work, and some light benching for technique practice as long as it doesnt hinder you.

thats what i did my senoir year of high school track(spring of 02) i had some rotator cuff issues, so i didnt even bench for like 8 weeks, and did some light bench work towards the end of the season to get my technigue back. in that time with the combo of shoulder work for throwing, and rotator cuff work, and some tricep and lat work to keep those areas strong, by bench did not go down at all. and after wards it has steadily gone up and up and up.
