Canon XL-2

does anyone know anything about this camera or where a good place to find a decent used one is?

i'm pretty deadset on buying one and using it.
razorguns, what's your opinion on it?

no idea. lots of folks like the canon t2i nowadays. If you want 3ccd stuff, the sony z7u is quite popular. If you just wanna go consumer cancorder, amazon.com reviews i guess.

that, final cut pro, and a macbook pro should be a good starter kid to get my foot in the water

Honestly, you don't need to make that much of an initial investment for a few shorts, etc. I think Razor's suggestion for something like the t2i would be less of a hit to your savings. The xl2 is, what, 3-4 times more expensive?
