Canada Kicks Ass!!!!!!!!

lets tone that down a little bit

now lets not make usa feel bad know because we are both the best countries bringing home gold for Canada and USA!!!!!!:p

I t was great to have a North American Final. The Russians think it was a conspiracy. I watched the game between them and the U.S. it was a good fare game winnable by both teams. But to see North America in the finals shows that our style of play was the deciding factor.

We waited 50yrs for this Gold. I deal with Americans everyday. My girl is a Yank. I'll tell yah they gloated something awful when we lost to them in 96. I'm damn glad to show pride in my team after the showing we had this time around for the Mens and Womens teams in Hockey.

We Kicked!!!!

Look at the medal count, the U.S.A. is blowing Canada away.

It should be higher you have Ten times the population of Canada. You would think you could bring home a couple more medals.

haha no kiddin...considering the population difference, the US really isn;t doin a hell of a job proving they have superior athletes....cuz they don't. i mean when I went to High School AAA football was good here, but we obviously couldn't play AAAA teams from the US, not because we sucked like most americans like to think but when your high school (grade 8-12)has 2000 kid=1000males=200males in grade 11 and 12 thats not a whole lot to choose from comparred to a US school that has 2000 students as well but are all in grades 11 and 12. Besides, Canada won the Gold that counts the most. =)

It was great to see Gretzky going nuts in the press box, we totally outplayed the U.S. , the U.S. were lucky, the score would have been even higher if it wasn't for Richter and some luck.

WTF does have to do with AS?

And why hasn't any of the mods moved this to the "chat" board?

Sorry Riker.

I do prefer the crowd in this forum as apposed to the chat. That's why I posted here. Maybe the Mods are cutting a little slack due to the fact that the Olympics only happen every 4yrs and Canada has been waiting 50yrs since Edmontons Waterloo Mercury's brought home gold. Since you're from California I don't think you get the magnitude of this up here. Put simply it's the biggest thing since 72 and henderson putting away the winner against the Russians. Most of our cities main drags where blocked with traffic from the festivities going on. Young st. in Toronto was stopped and people were playing ball hockey in the middle of it.

USA USA USA USA RULES!!!! Canada finally won a gold in hockey after 50 years it'll be another 50 years till they win again so enjoy while you can. And thats such a poor excuse that our population is higher, we just have better athletes and coaches than canada. Dont even compare canada to the states. It's like comparing the expos to the yankees, give me a break. I must say though it was an exciting game and canada did play better in the final, however usa played better throughout all the games.

No Way... Sweden Rules  ....eeeeh no we don't any of you see that game againts belarus..... The worst game in hockey history the players were treated like terrorists by the swedish media... anyway it was fun in the first 3 games, especially when we crushed Canada :)

Personally, I think its pretty sad that it took Canada 50 years to win a medal in their own national sport.

Hockey is about the 6th most popular sport in the US and we still got 2nd place. Not too bad.

And yes, we have more people, but how many live in a state that is covered with ice like your whole country? Just looking at the College Division I top 25 should tell you something.

1 Denver (35)
2 St. Cloud (5)
3 New Hampshire
4 Minnesota
5 Michigan State
6 Boston University
7 Colorado College
8 Cornell
9 Maine
10 Michigan
11 Alaska-Fairbanks
12 Northern Michigan
13 Northeastern
14 UMass-Lowell
15 Western Michigan

Not exactly a list of your typical go-to colleges.

all this thread shows is the ignorance of the americans about what they know about canada....yes half our country is covered in ice...BUT we don't live in that part of the country...half our country has warmer summers and as mild of winters as your states....plus how can the population thing be a weak excuse you fuckin retard? if u have 10 guy on one side of the island and 2 on the other side...chances are outta the 10 guys there are more athletetic people...i don't hate the US, just their pompous fuckin attitudes towards us, oh and lastly, Hockey isn't our national sport smartass...

Canada should be excited. The first time in 50 years it wins a gold medal in its own national sport. It's laughable. It's like that goofy loser that finally makes a lucky a shot and starts screaming "DID YOU SEE?" and is looking for a pat on the back. Well here's your pat. Whoop-T-Fuckin-Do. I guess we'll be hearing from you in about 50 years again for one freakin sport.

Unbelievable

Some of you yanks are truly unbelievable... the attitude on you guys is so arrogant it's sad. Just because your government has tons more money and resources to pour into sports and coaching you think you're a higher quality country?

Our olympic hopefuls don't have the luxury of government funding like US or Germany. I know a skiier who went to Salt Lake who works as a manager of a grocery store for shits sake. And you look at Germany and US, some olympic athletes are completely funded to train 24-7.

You talk about population of Canada and we should have more medals? Most yanks don't know shit about Canada, it's pathetic.

Anyway, point being, in my experience Canada and Canadians are more polite, filled with pride (not arrogant pride either or stuck up pride) and we take our hockey seriously and we live the game like it's part of us.

I guarantee more Canadians watched every single olympic games, now and in the years past, even when we lost, than Americans do.

Anyway, we kicked ass so bad it was pathetic, and nothing can take that away from us. 5-2 is such a bittersweet victory! GO CANADA!!!

Oh ya, I almost forgot...

There are and always will be more Canadians in the NHL than any other Country...

Gotta love the game!

Of course there are gonna be more atlethes out of the 10 people, but most of them are going to play football, baseball and basketball instead of hockey. 5 of them arent even going to have an opportunity to play hockey because it isnt cold enough. Every town in every province in Canada probably has a youth ice hockey league. I can imagine what we'd do to the international hockey scene if all our kids played hockey instead of football, basketball and baseball.

You should try and use your brain just a little bit before you call people "fuckin retards." Heres why the population is a weak excuse: China and India have 1 billion people each! By your brilliant logic, they should compete for every gold medal. I wonder why no one jumps for joy whenever they beat them in hockey.

And half your country does NOT have warmer summers and as mild winters as our states. Even a "retard" like me knows that. Maybe states like MN, ND and ME, but last time I checked, they werent the states where most people in the US lived.

Nothing against Canada, BTW, congratulations. Im not tryin to bash Canada, Im sure its a wonderful country. It probably does feel good to finally kick our ass in something like you did yesterday. But as recently as 5 Olympics ago, we were the Belarus of hockey so its not really as big of a deal as you guys are making it sound. You should kick our ass in hockey. The NHL can barely get a network TV deal here. I think its a much bigger deal that in just 5 Olympics the US has transformed itself from a mediocre (and thats being nice) international hockey program to a gold medal favorite. It shows you how big that win over Russia in 1980 really was.

Can someone who lives there enlighten me on what is Canadas national sport? It better be hockey because thats the only one youre good at.

I have visited Canda, its a great place with wonderful people.

But if you guys want to waive your own flag, why dont you do it on the chat board, its OFF TOPIC here. Period.

Canada will still be considered Northern Mexico in my book. Congrats I guess, but the real game the US cared about was Russia. Its not so much about the game or sport in the Olympics. Its more about putting a smack down on a country. It was nice to smack down Russia, but I'm not sure if there was quite as much at take with Canada. Canada's victory was on the same level as the Belarus victory over the Swedes. Everyone knows the Swedes are better, but every dog has its day.

I really don't see what the big deal was beating the USA. All of us here over in Ontario Canada knew we were going to win. 5-2 wasn't exactly a close game just as we didn't think it would be!

In your face USA....

hehehe

How funny. It is so funny to comapre the USA to Canada.
We are two different countries that serve our places in society and do it best.

Both are great and please don't let this win fool you. It is NO MYTH THAT CANADA IS BETTER THAN THE USA IN HOCKEY. It would be like the USA playing Canada in football. If the USA did not win, it would be shameful.

Both countries are great and let the bashing stop!!!

Hehe... sorry guys.... I didnt mean LITERALLY covered with ice, ok? I meant cold enough to play ice hockey more than a couple months out of the year. It hasnt been cold enough to freeze a lake south of NY in over a year. Even when I was young growin up in NJ I could count on one hand the number of times it was cold enough to go ice skating each year.

So I appologize, I know that your country is not Antarctica south. Well at least not the populated part.

Yes Canada does kick ass!! secondly as all Canadians know and many americans do not, even if the gold in hockey was our only medal, the Olympics are a success. Yes we are happy for all of our athletes, just as we are happy when someone goes to play pro baseball, but it just doesn't compare to winning the gold in hockey or playing in the nhl.
thirdly, regarding the 50 years thing, all the players we sent were not even close to being our best, particularly before 1988, because they were all in the nhl, (there were not many non canucks in the nhl) so the others were sending their best.
lastly, megabump, the official national sport of canada is lacrosse
way to go boys!!!
and just imagine if Gretz laced em up!

Peace and love to all!

Word up bro's, you hit the nail on the head...

America is a great nation and I wouldn't knock it...

I was very glad to hear that there are some bro's out there that concede that Canada is sometimes a misunderstood country and neighbour to our bro's in the States.

We love hockey like it's a parent or sibling, and for us to win the Gold medal is just magestic, to say the least.

For some reason our national sport is lacrosse, yet every newborn male in Canada is given his first pair of skates at about age 4 and is enlisted by his dad into a league at about age 6 or 7.

Many of our hot canadian chicks are jumpin on that band wagon too.

If our only medal was the gold in hockey for men and women I would have been so proud, which I am... the extra medals were just gravy.

I guess all the bloating by us Canadians is because we hold hockey so close to our hearts (along with our beer) and we are so proud to be Canadian at this time!

GO CANADA! Congrats to both our men and women's hockey team!

Girls and hockey is just wrong!
That's great that we took the gold in both the male and female though.
It's just sweaty stinky girls in that shit smelling gear isn't exactly what i'd want my girl doing!

I think canada is a great country too, but I just hate when people talk trash like saying that they kicked our asses. If you did watch the game it was a great one and a close one. Canada outshot USA 35 - 32( not sure exact #'s but very close to those). Anyway this is real stupid argument

OK I agree.

Well OK... North American hockey kicks ass big time!

Let's just all concede that hockey has its home the more North you go... ie: Canada!

GO CANADA!

holy shit did you guys even READ my last message???? again Hockey IS NOT, i repeat NOT our national sport so stop fuckin thinking it is. As for your brilliant theory on China and India having 1 billion people so my population excuse is not valid.....wake up retard..last time i checked 90% of those people were living in poverty...try buying hockey equipment while living off 5 dollarsa month. Furthermore as for most of the US not being cold enough for hockey? hahaa...thats like saying its too cold here to play basketball or football....ice rinks don't exactly require it to be subzero outside...or did u think our leagues play on frozen ponds? i don't mean to be so goddamn defensive but when you have obviosuly uneducated yanks calling canada nothern mexico or whatever else you want to think its pisses all canadians off and rightly so. Fuck at least the whole world doesn't hate us....if everyone was so proud to be america why do so many american traveleres sew maple leafs onto their backpacks and pretend to be canadian? maybe because they are embarassed outside of their own nation because they realize what everyone else sees them for. My logic is not flawed...my arguments have all had good reason and logistics behind them so don't flame with stupid ass comments...at least try and back it up with a little thought...or has all those krispy kremes gone to the brain?

Shyte man. This is really cracking me up. This is not an AS post, and I can sense a little hostility. I am from Canada and I am in an Internet Cafe in Panama right now, and I am reading this post with an american friend. I just found out about Canada winning the cup last night. Alls I can say right now is FUCK YA!

A few comments or should I say opinions on what you guys are saying.

The population thing is a valid argument. Bringing countries like india in defense to that is ridiculous.

Second, money is another big factor. USA and Germany in particular do dump a tun of coin into there athletes, coaches, facilities training etc.

You don|t need cold whether to play hockey. How many olympic games sis you see played outside?

It was a good game on both sides, but Canada came through. I am proud of both teams, but I do not like to think of it as North America won. Where is our identity in that? We dont think like that when you guys win a medal. We are a seperate country as are you.

It is not about stomping another country, its about the sport. We don|t care whos ass we kicked to win the gold, were just proud to have won it (although after reading some of these posts now, i am glad that it was the US that we beat. hehehe).

I do have to admitt, some of the attitudes on some of you yanks never ceases to amaze me! Don|t get me wrong I have no problem with the us, but after travelling for the last 2 months, I have actually got to see how much of the other world thinks of both Canada and the US. Let me tell you that it is 2 totally different attitudes. So much that it really blows my mind. As for the post stating that some yanks, take off there badge and sew the Canada flag on there pack .... I never thought that this was true, until I started travelling. My friend here from California has the Canada badge sewn on his pack. He put in when he was in Europe and kept it on ever since. Depending on where he is, when asked where he is from, he says Canada. He tells me that he is just treated much better. It kinda pisses me off a little bit as he is still an american. Its kinda sad that you cant travel with your countries flag in pride.

Anywhoo, enough said, we are both great countries and we are and always will be neighbors. During my travels I just got to have another glimpse of what some of the other countries of the world think. Hockey has and always will be a big part of life in Canada. Its part of our heritage and we love it so much. Of course we are gonna have better players, its a way of life up here, just as you guys and your football. The game is over now, and we will see what happens next time. Im actually glad that this post didnt get removed, i think that it gives people a bit of a break and something to ponder on.

Just one last thing... 5-3. Thats a bit of a spanking! hehe

Peace
Mavy
