Montreal police chase several snowmobiles in the heart of downtown

MONTREAL (CP) - Six snowmobilers tore up and down one of the city's busiest downtown streets, leading police on a chase that resulted in the arrest of one man.

Montreal police said the men took advantage of a heavy snowfall Sunday night to show off the power of their machines on Crescent Street, home to some of the city's most popular bars.

"Officers saw six personal snowmobiles and they were able to catch only one because last night a snowmobile was faster than a patrol car," said police spokesman Olivier Lapointe.

The person nabbed was fined about $150 and had his vehicle seized

Same with where I live. When it snows you see more snowmobiles on the road than cars. And I live in SE Pennsylvania!

We had a monster blizzard in 97, noting was moving except sleds in the city.

Being a Sat night I had a big bash, there were over 20 sleds on my front lawn LOL. Guys were pulling up with beer strapped to their seat. They did beer runs and picked up whoever wanted to come over!
