Yeah...that might be a little difficult.

I'm going to try it though. It looks like a blast to me. :dolphin:

I need to get my board made. :chomp:

I'm a Cali native, always lived close to the beach but have never surfed. It's jsut one of those things that I thought I can't do. At my night job, there are like 3 guys that came from St. Louis at about the age of 19-20, took up surfing after a few months of living in Cali and are now total surfer dudes, you'd swear that they lived in cali all their lives. Talking to one of the guys and asking him questions about just taking it up and learning is getting me pretty pumped up to start. This chick I date is a surfer broad too, she's also trying to get me to start.

ya, live in SD and been surfing for a while now. I love it, it becomes almost like a part of you. Broke my board a few months back, havent been able to buy a new one(dam!)

you can start on a boogie board if you are a complete wave noob. Learn how to catch waves, how trhey break etc.

i started body surfing when i was younger, surfed a couple times, not very good at it
but since i live in MN, i dont get to the coast that often, wish i lived in a coastal area were i could, but then i would probably never go to the gym, just be at the beach all day

Body boarding can actually be a lot more fun a lot of the time. It's not as much work and you can still ride the waves pretty well. If you are pretty hardcore and want the big waves though surfing would be much better. It's just a lot of surfing (at least around here), is really territorial, so if you aren't good or with the in crowd, you are in trouble. They won't be happy you are surfing on "their" waves.

man... another steaming pile of macho bullshit.

I used to all the time. the summer I spent surfing was just amazing - I would work 9, 10 hours then head down to the beach at like 6pm. perfect for a noob cause it wasn't too crowded. even if there were no waves I would paddle out just to sit out on my board. meally amazing.

I've decided if you can surf, you don't need a gym. You could probably eat whatever you want too.

I know I could enhale food and lose weight when I swam and dove all day.

The best surfers where I live are the silver surfers. They are surfing into their seventies :mix:

I bodyboard mostly, but I have tried surfing a few times. It's a little bit out of my price range at the moment... too many other pricey hobbies. :)

people paraglide around here because the waterfront is cliffs.

Damn that California water is cold. I really noticed it this time as it has begun to cool down a little outside.

no surfing man. my bro has a surfboard and you get a really good wake right behind the boat and you hold on to the rope and then let it go and you stay on the wake. it is really cool

Dred, I thought you were in the Va.Beach area... are you in Texas?

Use to in Highschool anytime the waves were up regardless if I had class or not. Hey when you surf Galveston and Freeport you go when the surf is up no matter how cold it is outside or how big the test is. I don't surf anymore because I hate paddling so I just bought a hyperlite wakesurf board and do it behind the boat. It is a endless wave wth no paddling what could be better?
