Is it possible to lose 20 lbs in water weight. seems like a lot but i heard this somewhere where someone lost 20 lbs.

ive heard of 5 lbs, before but not 20.
Thanks guys

Yes. This is a common thing people do to make weight for competition. It's only temporary but it can be done to weigh in. Matt Kroc was known for doing this when he competed in pl. he would cut from around 250 to 220, then gain it all back before the meet the next day.

Hi

I'd say it's possible but rare to lose it deliberately like Krocc did, and then put it all back on again in 24 hrs. But he is an example of a genentically gifted individual. Complex CHO has a high infinity for water per carbohydrate molecule: approx. 10:1. So if you severely restrict carbs then water will certainly be lost. Drugs aside, you'd need to then get wolfing down loads of complex CHO to put the water back on again. Some guys who are carb loading specialists: marathon runners, cyclists etc, can put on 10Ibs in weight overnight from CHO loading during the previous day.

Fighters do it all the time. I've dropped 21lbs in 36 hours, but that was a little severe. From 171 to 149.8 for a weigh in.
