Go to Profile: Edit Options: then down at the bottom of the page is a button asking you to attach an avatar, click it, takes you to another page where you can upload it from your computer.

I'd have helped you, but i don't even know what an avatar is.... I can't even get a good mullet picture under my posts. Computers are baffling.....
