The website goarmy.com tells scantily little about it. Too much fancy marketing jive and polished flash videos.

its where all the rejects that couldnt make it in to actual service go and wait to be deployed and die

You couldn't be further from the truth. What a disgusting and ignorant remark.

Here's what I know about it, which isn't much, but oh well:

You join. Take the ASVAB. Choose your MOS (depending on what the Army wants to give you, usually). Go to basic training then AIT. Drill with your unit, which is usually close to where you live, until you get your orders to deploy, or you get co-opted with another unit.

Have Fun, weekend warrior :D jk

Anything else you want to know, ask. There are people on this board who could help you out better, which i'm sure they will.

Division -- you got a PM.

Well, i wouldn't MIND taking a year off and going to Iraq and _helping_ out, preferring something more on the intellectual side (my strong points) in terms of operations rather than infantry. I mean, I'd do infranty deployment, but nothing high-risk -- cuz my parents would NEVER allow it. End of story. Medium-risk is fine.

So seeing what options there are. If not -- i can sit like eveyrone else and just watch the news.

I'll be honest -- i know little about the army and how it works.

Well, make sure you get a good MOS and a high ASVAB... DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT settle for what a recruiter will try to sell you. Get the MOS you want (assuming your ASVAB was high enough to get it). Something along the lines of Military Intelligence is good, or PsyOps. For something with medium-risk, try Military Police... However, I recommend the two former choices. Also, you will probably have a 6-year contract. Also, not every unit gets deployed to Iraq... A lot of units still get deployed to countries that you would have no idea that we were in.
