Can I just mow the leaves?

lazy bastage!

lol j/k

no, just being efficient and returning them to the ground to fertil-----okay lazy and my rake has like 3 tines left on it so its a better back scratcher than rake

On a more serious note, leaf mold etc is good for grass but if you leave too many chopped up leaves on your grass, it will smother it. A little is okay. Too many are bad.

i don't have a lot of leaves and would rather just mow the hell out of them--bad idea?

sure you can mulch them back into the ground. I would try to spread them out a bit instead of mulching them all in one area. My guess is the nutrient value in your leaves in very low so there is almost no danger but spreading them is always safer. I would say the worst thing that will come of this is your yard will look a little crappie with the mulch for a little bit.

show me a pic of your yard, I'll give you a good tip on what you should do. That is what my degree is in btw.

Leaves become as hard as diamonds when they get mowed. It'll ruin the mower. It's a fact.

You mean dull the blade? I tend to sharpen my mower blade often anyway, I like really clean cuts on my grass. If you look as some peoples grass after being mowed it will be all blue at the top, that is bruising from the blade. That later turns brown or white and will keep your yard from being as green as it could.

Bottom line is mulch the leaves, sharpen your blade cuz it is the right thing to do anyway. Or pay some little kid to rake them up.

I mulch them a couple times during fall and bag it the last time

i usually start raking real enthusiastically
then about a half an hour into it i quit and pay the lawnscappers to do it

I just bought this^^^ It's a push lawn sweeper. Gets leaves and anything else on your lawn or driveway etc... Not bad so far. Doesn't do the job 100% but certainly easier than a rake.

They have lawnmowers that are specifically designed for leaves. Maybe you should pick one up if you want to do this long term. I wouldn't mulch that much on your lawn. Like was mentioned above, it will ruin it.

I've also use a blower/vac with the vac option and sucked up all the leaves by mulching them down into the bag attatchment. When the bag is full, just dunp and repeat. The mulching is like 10-1 ration or something, so you get a lot more in the container than regular raking. Plus it's cool to vacuum up all the leaves.

i tried moving the leaves once,,the only problem is that you cant see what is under the leaves when you are mowing,,,so i ran over a dog ball toy that on of the kids next door hit into our yard,,,f'ed up my mower

Nope it just shreds them up and leaves them all over the lawn and it looks just as bad...Now get out there and rake
