Can I have a second screen for my computer...

in another room of the house? I have a computer screen/tv in my kitchen that I would love to use as a second monitor running from my bedroom computer. I would have to get a wireless keyboard and stuff I guess. Can I do that wireless or do I need to run cables? I may have the cables already ran, depending on what I would need. It`s a DSL line I`m using now.

All I want to do is surf the net at the second screen which is one floor down and almost directly under the first computer.

you need a video splitter. Same principle Best Buy does when you see the same image on all the monitors they sell.

OK then would I need a wireless keyboard to operate it WITHOUT any type of computer sharing stuff, right? It would only be one computer and I could use the keyboard (and mouse) from another floor of the house? Do they go that far?

I thought you just wanted to watch the video output. I doubt the range of the wireless keyboard/mouse would get you there. You'd have to make sure you get a radio frequency one that doesn't require line of sight. A kvm over IP switch is probably more than you want to spend for this. It would be cheaper to buy another E-machine.

OK Sorry for the confusion. I have an 8 pair telephone wire and RG6 Coax cable home run from every room. That may be able to get connected to the new monitor.

I know what you mean by getting another computer. The problem is I don`t have the room in the kitchen for another one. Unless I stick it inside cabinets. I`d rather just use my original one.

Thanks anyway guys. It was just a thought.

You might consider this. I'd like to have one myself.

That`s nice. I have a 22 inch HDTV LCD monitor on the wall for TV already. Maybe I can just buy the keyboard/computer without the monitor and use that.

or Maybe I should look into linking computers, because I`m gonna probably have a third one in the basement office too. Then I can share all my files. In the long run I`m better off hard wiring them, it`s always a better idea I guess.

Brolly, You've spent all this cash on shit and you can't pay someone to do this for you?

All I did was buy a TV for my kitchen. I`ve always had the other computer. If it came down to it, I would get someone to set everything up. I have a local HiFi Audio/Video place that does wiring for Sound systems and stuff. Maybe I`ll do that. I was just asking around... lol It may have been running one cable... and a wireless... I guess it`s more complicated than that.
