Can drug sniffing dogs detect AAS?

Hey guys, I ask this out of pure curiosity, but are garden variety drug sniffing dogs even trained to sniff out AAS? Seems like it'd be a lot of extra training for much less prevelant illegal substances. Anyone know?

from everything i've ever been told... that's a big ole negative.. TOO many different kinds and brands to be able to train the dogs.. i mean.. each brand of something is a little different.. with real drugs.. pot is pot.. and coke is coke.. unless you got scammed.. LoL.. but i don't even think it's really possible to train the dogs to sniff out AAS.. the pills and injectables wouldn't really leave much of a scent.. especially in amps and such.. but then again.. i'm not 100% positive

No, can you smell it in the vial?? :)

Sure, everything has some sort of scent> I for one, know that women can smell testosterone from a good 5 or so feet away, lol.

But, for a dog to be really efficient at finding narcotics, he can't be trained to find 180 different anabolic compounds too. He'd be yapping out false alarms faster than Tom Ridge!

I agree, a closed vial smells like thin air. An open bag of pills....which hundred are you talking about, a dog can't say DBOL, ANADROL, TYLENOL, CLEN, STAN, ADVIL, BIRTH CONTROL, ANAVAR :p

No, but if its a female dog and you're hopped up on testosterone, she might go to town on your leg.

A bro who works for Border Patrol, and has friends in the DEA, said this is in the works......a la George W.

The answer to your question is YES, a dog can be trained to smell out anything. However they currently do not employ dogs to do this (find AAS) as of yet. :)

keep us updated on this, this is important info. even paper products would be detectable at that point.
