Can anyone hold dual citizenship?

I thought that when you become a U.S. Citizen, you renounce your citizenship of the country you came from.

I had an argument last night, the person I was debating said Canada and Israel allow duel citizenship with the US, but my point was how can you be a foriegn citizen if you have to renounce your former citizenship?

you dont renounce your former citizenship.

thats why its called dual citizenship.

for the longest time i was a dual citizen US/CANADA. it depends if you are a u.s. citizen first or are trying to become a u.s. citizen i believe. im not up on the real facts though. just talking out my ass. but i did hold dual citizenship because my mom was from canada.

dual citizenship should not be allowed

If someone wants to accept another citizenship, then he should loose the one his has. Why not give someone 3 or 4 different ones and also 3 or 4 passports?
