Calling in sick?

In my 3 yrs with this company I've done 2 a year max.

We get 7 at most. I haven't done one this year and just want a random tuesday off.

Should i just leave a Vm to my boss' cell # early that morning and put my phone in airplane mode?

Whats going around?

I was thinking of saying a stomach virus hit me and keep it simple like

Hey "boss name", I am not feeling well at all. I won't be able to make it in today. See you tomorrow.

Although he is off wed-friday so I wouldnt see him till next week.

Advice?

:)

I figure keep it simple. if he did answer just say some virus hit me and i feel awful.

Could always play it out tomorrow and be grumpy, say that my fiance got sick sunday and lay low as far as work goes.

send an email a week in advance bro

oh and she's cheating on you

if u work in an office its super easy cuz noone wants you to get them sick, so just say that you would rather stay home for a day to avoid any contageousness

I used to call in sick a few times a year on my shitty college jobs so I could stay home, skip all my classes, jack off 10 times that day to porn, play video games all day, and eat a ton of shitty awesome food.

Explosive diarrhea. Where I live pneumonia was goin around. Me and sterolizer were both hospitalized a few months back. But that's more like a week off, not a day

just be thankful it can be that easy,if Im sick my company makes us cover our own sick days or too bad your coming in. or so they say, they cant legally enforce it but they can be dicks if you dont.

in turn I arrange for someone to work and then take paid sick days as paid holidays

lay the ground work monday for a tues sick day.
complain of feeling like shit, cough/wheeze/etc...then it won't come as a big suprize when you call in tues.
i always make it a point to make vocal contact with my superior, more legit than a message...track your boss down and make sure you talk to him personally so you can rest easy

I have a superstition about calling in sick when not exactly the case... When I worked for a company before I was self-employed, if I used sick as the reason to stay out for the day, I'd GET SICK for real, in a few days. I'd go for "personal reasons", which is legally a reason to take off in most states, and certainly is OK with most bosses if you have a good reputation for attendance.

And I need to also say, that before anyone calls me a lucky SOB for being self-employed, and thinks I can take off whenever I please, that's NOT how it is. I've had to do all kinds of hard work when REALLY sick, and nobody cares, and there's nobody to call in sick to. Case in point, I remember balancing on an icy ladder with a torch and roll of solder at 3:00 in the morning in a 75-mph wind, repairing burst pipes which were supplying heated water to the horse stalls in the horse hospital which used to lease part of our ranch in '07. And I did that with the flu, and while still feeling sick from New Years Eve two nights before.....

I always loved employees who called in sick on Monday, Friday or the day before a holiday. I always had a special surprise for them next pay raise.

We just let go of a dude who missed a lot of Mondays and Fridays. He seriously missed either Monday or Friday every single week this year as well as calling in on a Monday and saying he was going to be out sick for the entire week.

yeah I never miss Monday, Friday or after a holiday cuz bosses get hella pissed. Just call him and tell them you have a ersonal emergency or an emergency around the house and you cant go to work, you dont have to give an actual reason, if they push you tell them a pipe burst or your dog needs to go to a vet or there is giant beehive you need to get exterminated , picking up a relative at the hospital, etc

Tell your boss "I'm staying home sick, and if you've got a problem with that, then I'm coming in tomorrow with a gun"
