I am a very ethical hunter. I would never purposely try and screw someone up or steel a tree stand, and I have never had any troubles, until last night. My parents own 7 acres of property that border a large piece of woods, this is where I always hunt early season bow, where i killed the 6 pointer this past Saturday night. Well anyway, Sat afternoon when going into my stand I noticed the tree right next to my feeder there was a lock-on and screw in steps all the way up. I left it alone and used my climber in the tree I had picked out. The next day, sunday, I went back to find the buck I shot and decided that I was gonna take the lock-on down to keep this clown from hunting my feeder which I spent a lot of money on filling it. I brought the stand back to my parents house and left it in their patio, telling them if anyone came knocking asking about it, just give it back and tell them to hunt somewhere else.

Well last night, this guy stopped by my parents house and seen his tree stand in the patio, and then decided to flip the fuck out on my mom, scaring the shit out of her. he then called the cops and tried to press charges. He then went back and put the fucking thing back up in the same tree. Now Im fucking pissed, even though he was informed that I already killed a deer there, he still went back and set up shop at my feeder.

the woods that borders my parents property is public, but just the fact that this guy insists on hunting my feeder and the spot that Ive hunted for years, is so unethical its unbelievable. I havent seen who this guy is yet but im too the point where I want to fuck him up, especially after flipping out at my mom, like she was the one who took his shit. do you guys think Im right here or no?

Is it ethical from a hunters standpoint....that's up in the air. Is it legal??? Hell yeah! This guy has every right to hunt the public property that he is on. You had no right to take his stand!

Just because you own property that adjoins public land does not mean you have total rights to say a 1/2 square mile does it?

I will make the assumption that your feeder is on public property (or very close to the property line), If you did not have access to the additional 7 acres but found an area where the deer are traveling would you not hunt it? Maybe this is the only area he can get to in time to hunt during the week and that is the best spot he could find.

I get extremely pissed when property owners place their stands right on the property line and then get all snotty if you decide to hunt in the public area.........quit being selfish.

Bottom line:
He was not there when you were in your stand, he was not on your parents property, he did not take down or damage your stand or feeder, he did not steal your deer........he was in the right.

Leaving it up on public land is an invitation for that to happen..

Here is something with a little tact my man...Try this:

Get your oldest, and dirtiest tennis shoes, wear them all day, take them off, and put the socks inside the shoes...Now, before you go hunting, get up very early and put them in a plastic bag....once you hit the woods, figure out how the deer are moving around his stand....Now, the fun part....

Put you stand in a funnel type position from a distance from his stand, now take out the dirty, smelly socks, tie a piece of string to them, drag them behind you on the ground, rub them on tress and bushes...do this to ensure the deer will scent them and move away....Just make damn sure you do it in such a manner to move them through the funnel you have set up for you own stand....

This little trick works pretty good, not just for dickhead backstanders....<evil grin>

Wear good rubber boots(rubber gives off no human scent)....Find a good fresh scrape...now step into it, rub your boot soles through it to get any possible doe piss on them....move to a good thicket for cover....now be patient and watch your backtrail....this has worked a few times for me my man....generally when the rut is in full swing....Luck to ya my man.....

Man, I totally agree with Ranger. Just find a better spot with a lot of hardwoods and shit and piss like hell all over his tree. In fact I think I'd be willing to chug down some colon blow just to blow my shit all over his stand. Either that or drip some sulfuric acid on the main supports of the stand and sit back and wait till that fucker falls out of his tree. YES, that technique actually works.

How the hell am I being selfish, true it is public property, but, I have a feeder there, there are miles and miles of woods, find your own fucking spot. So what your saying is, let me do all the work, all the scouting, spend all the money on feed, put all the time and effort in, and then let this guy just throw his stand up and kill a deer, yeah thats ethical. How in the hell can you take pride in killing a deer that came into someone elses bait pile, into someone elses spot, how the fuck can you be proud of that. Sorry pal, I dont think Im being selfish at all. this guy could of set his stand 50 yards from my feeder and I probably would have never seen it, but right on top of it, come on now, give me a break.

I havent decided what im gonna do yet, but when I do, i'll let everyone know.
