I took clomid 12.5mg sublingual EOD for almost a year (inhibition problem). I noticed my hairline receding during this time. I can’t tell if it is just staying the same now or worsening.

I had my testosterone tested prior to the clomid use and it was very low. Every time I quit taking the clomid I felt like it was low again. I guess it is possible that my testosterone was high while on the clomid, but my estrogen would have of course been higher while on the clomid.

So does anyone think the increased estrogen could have been the problem? I am asking because I read a post, which stated that estrogen could also cause hair-loss in some individuals. Also, if it were caused by increased estrogen would the anti-androgen cream I am using be helpful or harmful?

Thanks

Hey all you hairloss gurus please share your knowledge. I sure would like to know the answer. Mainly should I continue with the anti androgen cream?? I cant tell if it is helping or not

Estrogen can cause changes in hair growth rates as well as hair thickness, but I don't recall that it has an actual effect on rate of loss. The only thing I found regarding estrogen and hair loss is some anecdotal evidence that is helps PROTECT hair.

Now the clomid is going to boost LH and then Test right? Well. That would increase the total DHT right? DHT is one of, if not the primary hair death hormone. An anti-androgen will not help if you hair loss is actually caused BY estrogen but the more likely scenerio is that your hair loss is caused by an androgen and the anti-a will work for that.

BTW: Hair loss is most affected by whether or not your hair is susceptible to the affects of DHT. Some DHT as the result of even low test may be a very bad thing for a susceptible individual. After all, women have very low test levels, but some women still seem to suffer profound hair loss. Now, the amount of DHT they are dealing with must be truely miniscule, but still too much... That is, of course, if women's hair loss is also DHT related.

Thanks for the help thx900 and drveejay11 .

I will stick with the anti androgen cream. I think it is spiro something can't remember the spelling. Yea I tried e-mailing realgains about it. I noticed that he wrote several posts on hairloss. I did not get a response though. Does anyone know if the e-mail address he has posted works. I have all ready e-mailed him twice. I dont want to irritate him. Actually I followed his directions to make the anti androgen cream.

Thanks
