little help to those experienced with linux. (Redhat 9.0) .... I am using the latest version of Samba. The 3.0 beta. I install samba, and I can see my linux box from my 2000 professional machines. However, when I click on the linux machine it asks for name and password but will not accept any name and password I give it. I have chmod'ed the correct dirctories to give correct access... only error i have noticed is that when i run the smbpasswd command i get an error stating "cannot open passdb file" ...... anyone out there as geeky as I am that can help out?? its pissing me off and i need sleep.

yes... i tried root. i even added user names to the smbusers file. i finally gave up and fucking re-installed linux. samba kept fucking up and it would not re-install because of conflicts. ole well
