Calling all computer guru's

It seems the popup programs GAIN and GATOR have installed themselves onto my computer. I can’t delete the directory they're installed in (I get a write protect error). I also can't uninstall using the add/remove program feature in Windows.

Someone please help me get these shit ass programs off my comp! I’d love to fuck up the assholes who write these programs.

boot up the computer in safe mode, and then uninstall them.

Nope, that was the first thing I tried doing.

There is an uninstall program in the directory with all the other program files. When you run it it tells you to remove the program with the add/remove feature, but neither program is on the list when you get it there. Even when I ran it in safe mode the programs weren't there....

use adaware, and look for program called GMT.EXE it will be floating around

It may not. Gator/Gain are integrated in another program you installed.

If ad-aware removes it then great. If not I would suggest you go to the gator web site and see which program installed Gator/Gain. You may have to remove that program all together.

I just tried adaware, awsome program! Hopefully all that shit is gone now.

Does adaware clean the registry?

I know Gator/Gain make back ups in the registry and may resurface. Check your startup by typing MSCONFIG in the run box. Make sure gmt.exe is unchecked or removed.
