Where do you guys go to get baseline blood values tested pre- and post-cycle?? wanted to get mine tested...can i just go to a walk-in-clinic and ask? how does it work in Canada?

...i can do that...but i'm wondering if they'll ask why i want bloodwork done, and what my answer should be... is all of this covered?? or am i going to have to pay?

You need to get a dr referral to get blood work done. He fills out the form that you need to take in to the lab with the appropriate boxes ticked off etc. to specify what type of blood work is to be done. Then you have to go back to the dr to get your results (the lab sends it back to the doc, not to you). I believe it is free, although it could vary from province to province (you would have to show your card which has your medical health insurance number...).

thanks miss silly... just wondering the reason i should give the doc if he asks why i want this done??? wondering if it would go in my record and if anyone would get suspiscious.
i'm in ontario so hopefully OHIP covers it? any other help would be appreciated.

hmm... I'm in BC, I've had lots of bloodwork done to monitor my hormone and thyroid levels because we thought there was something wrong with me LOL I've never had to pay. I had OHIP while living in Toronto for about 4 years...i'm pretty sure i had bloodwork done and dind't have to pay either (although it was a while ago, i don't even remember what it was for).

I dunno about what to tell your doctor....probably the truth is best. Otherwise you'll have to figure out some pretty good reasoning why you want a specific type of bloodwork done more than once (and a pretty good excuse to go with it). I'm sure EVERYTHING you do that you have to show your OHIP card will go on some sort of permanant medical record.

I don't believe a doctor can do anything if you are using a substance without prescription (?? unsure here...). Obviously some doctors are more "open minded" towards these types of things than others, you may get a lecture ;-P

Need a referral in montreal too. Never had to pay. I do sometimes go to a private clinic and pay $200 for next day results.

Is it only in the province of Quebec that they are allowed to operate the private clinics (similar to the private MRI clinics, etc.)?
