Why is the interpretation of skinfold measurements with calipers variable by age?
As you can see at the link below, theres almost a 4 pct point difference from late teens to mid 30s for the same mm reading on the calipers.
I assume this is to account for the differing hormone profile as a person ages? for men, less test, more estrogens, more cortisol, and the resulting effect on body comp and fat distribution.
If thats the case, I'd further assume that a 30something on cycle should probably look up his measurement reading in the early 20 line or even the teen line.
Any ideas???
