Calculating USPS Shipping.

After visiting the USPS shipping calculator, I've come to the conclusion that there must be a cheaper alternative to ship. Often I receive USPS priority packages form Ebay vendors that in no way as expensive on a per-pound-basis as the quote the USPS site gave. How are vendors shipping cheaply from using USPS? Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I think USPS is the cheapest. DHL, FedEx, UPS are way more expensive.

Don't forget, actual weight versus estimated weight makes a difference when figuring shipping costs

I've got a postal scale. According to the USPS web site, to ship the item in question, it will cost over $60. I've received similar sized items for significantly less postage.

Yea I also would like to know how they do it. I sent my brother some shoes he left in my car and it cost $15.00 for regular usps
