Well - I do think the board can weigh heavily on the conservative side, adn if you're going to hypothesize in such a controversial way you're ound to provoke some pretty violent reactions. I think a lot of guys on this board can be pretty derogatory to women, but no one has acted that way with me so I don't let it bother me when I come across some chauvanism.

When people band together they spur each other on, so if one guy has just been burned by a chick and he lets loose a thread of woman hating bullshit, you're going to have guys jumping in and creating their own little anti woman group, for the comfort of a congregation.

She invited a lot of negative attention with some very provocative statements. People congregated, united by their disagreement with her perspective, and ganged up on her. She got it from all sides. it's too bad she's leaving, controversy is what makes this board fun, it's what makes people learn. It gives us a chance to understand what we're willing to fight for, what principles and morals we adhere to. I'm sorry to see her go. I didn't agree with all of her views, but I respect her right to speak her mind.

I never disagree with something automatically. I listen to everything the other party has to say before I come to a conclusion. If I so exhibit this characteristic of always wanting to be right, why would I judge something before getting all of the information? That only invites incorrectness. The difference between many people and myself is that many people live accepting the fact that "oh, I'm human, I make mistakes, I'm wrong sometimes." I don't like to make mistakes and I don't like to be wrong. I make a conscious effort every day of my life to look at things objectively before making a decision as to where I'm going to stand. Unfortunately, people tend to see that as a negative quality - an egotistical quality. Oh well.
