Buying suits sucks..

Went suit shopping today for a wedding. What a disaster. Need a 52 long coat, but still a little snug on the biceps. Problem is, the bottom half of the jacket is swimming on me. Nice and tight up top, but to loose on the bottom. Then the guy tells me that suits come in a 6" drop, meaning if I buy a 52 long jacket, the pants will be a 46" waiste. I',m like " I'm a 34-36 waiste." The guy responds that I should just get the shit custom made so that it will fit me right. I tell the guy I'm only 21 years old and there is no way I'm spending $800-1,000 on a custom made suite. Going to Mens Warehouse to see what they can do.

Any guys out there have any advice so I can get a suite?

I feel you good bro. I have the same problem. Anything with our shoulder size off the rack comes assumes a huge gut on the wearer. Custom really is the only way to go. Even if they take it in it looks lousy because it was never intended to be cut to a 33-34 waist. Maybe a nice sports coat and slacks

I'm gonna have to get one if I stay with the girl I'm dating. She's a high level exec and I'll have to go with her to functions. I do dread that shit. I can't stand people who think they are better than others. She's not like that though. It's just part of her job.

They used to sometimes sell suits with different size slacks cut from the same material. I'd look for one of those. They can take in the waist on a jacket well enough or let the shoulders out a little. It will never look as good as a custom suit obviously, but no one will be expecting a 21 yr old sporting a 2k suit anyway.

True. I should just buy the jacket seperately, get it tucked where it needs to be and then get the pants. I hear good things about mens warehouse, so I am hoping they will help me out.
