Buying a used snowmobile...

I'm in the market to buy a sled...don't know much about the sport. I'm looking to spend around 2-3,000 on a used machine, any suggestions? Should I wait untill the summer to get a better deal?

I would wait until summer, but that won't do much for you for this year You will prolly get the best deal at the start of fishing season, when people want to sell their sled to get a boat.

Sled prices usually start getting good at the end of Jan. With the season almost over you can get some good deals.

So any suggestions as to what type of money I need to spend? I'm looking for a entry level sled, don't give a fuck what brand, something mid-performance...thanks for the replies...

If you want a mid level used sled I would get get a twin cylinder sled, something in the 500-600cc class. Will get you a nice ride and get better fuel mileage then a triple with triple pipes. Less likely to have been driven in the ground as well.

My preferred brand is ski doo but you can get some good Cats as well.

dont have much use for snowmobiles here in the south we usely mud ride on 4 wheelers. i think they would be in the same price range. good used one around 4 or 5 grand.
