Butyrolactones... specifically C75

My bad, its -78C

Damn Spidey, i think you got it!
How possible would it be for you to make this?
Remember, the trans distereoisomer is the effective one...

I take it you have a lot of chemistry background......
LOL, Yeah, I have a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry; this is what I do for a living.

The reactions themselves are not that hard if I had all the chemicals I need, an equipped lab and some dry ice (dry ice/acetone bath = -78 deg C). I couldn't order the chemicals I need from my work-place; to easy to get caught. It's not worth my job and my career, not to mention my freedom.

Anyway, the short of it is: Theoretically it would be pretty easy and could be done in a day but I am not willing to risk everything and make it in my lab at work. It's not something easily done at home.

Would this really be something you could get in trouble for, i mean, its not an illegal product, its still in research phase.
Im in my first semester of Ochem, so bear with me if im slow.....

I just have a good feeling about this compound, i mean, its been ALL positive so far.....

I hadn't thought of that (it not being illegal). I will think about it some and get back with you on Monday or tuesday about it.

If its a research type chemical, its more than likely legal.

However, keep in mind what you use to Synthesize it.

The whole process has to be legal. i.e. Using legal compounds

Its also more than likely they patented the processes to synthesize it(probably still at the patent office pending approval), so you also have to watch out for that.

One can replicate any patent without problems, as long as you don't do it to make a commercial product or make money from it by any means.

I think the problem is, that a lot of chemicals are for research purposes only. So you can make the stuff, but you are not allowed to give it to your cattle.
