A new local source called me today saying that he's going to pick up some gear today, and "what do you want me to get you?". I already spoke to the guy once,, drives an exotic car, but how can I know if he's not a fed or cop or something. He was a referral, but not from someone that I have known for very long. I just want to avoid some sort of trap.

You guys got any input before I actually deal with this person? Remember it's my first time using him.

You should know your sources better - especially for face to face meetings.

Let them talk first - always - and don't use expicit names on the phone. Start small.

If the cops really want to set you up (are you target material? From this post I doubt it) and you insist on using this guy who you don't know, you are probably going to get busted eventually. It's considered bad form to search a guy for wires or ask him if he's a cop when you meet him. Tends to really weird legit guys out too. :-)

I imagine he'd be cautious about dealing w/ you for the first time but a lot of these guys are idiots anyway and not very far up the chain so who knows.

The funny part is that he drives an $80k car, talks about training pros, and is VERY open and not extremely cautious about the subject. He was reffered to me as the biggest, most "connected" guy in the area (LARGE AREA).
Now I'm getting a little nervous, I'm buying very little the first time, to "test" him out. And he was OK with that.

Any other suggestions? HELP ME PLEASE:confused:

It is the cops job to become connected. I don't know you but are you worth the police going to any trouble for? if not order small. In my experience good sources or drug dealers try to be low profile to keep the wrong attention away.

Be careful Bro see if anyone else orders and watch what happens

Being paranoid is a good trait when it comes to this thing we do. If you're known as someone who is well connected, then you are better served to remain paranoid. A face to face purchase leaves you no room for argument if it is a setup, & though I agree it doesn't sound likely to be one, you just never know.

Here's my 2 cents on this guy: if he is making himself blatantly obvious that he sells gear, 2 things are probables you should consider: 1) he will eventually get nabbed, putting you as a customer in possible jeopardy, or 2) he could be an undercover officer, eager to make headway.

I prefer anonymous deals by mail or going across the border myself, b/c if I get nailed, I want it to be my own fault. There are so many ways to get gear, why chance something that makes you uncomfortable?

I have to concur that the best connected and biggest dealers (who aren't on their way to getting busted in the immediate future) are the quiet ones.

I knew a guy years ago that used to move big amounts of weed. He only did business directly with a few people. He'd be at parties and listen to the small timers brag about how connected they are. Fact is that 1/2 of them were selling his shit and had no idea.

Keep in mind that no matter how good you are it is only a matter of time before the odds go against you. Could just be bad luck on the wrong day but if you do the crime.....

This is why there are profits in the drug business. Penalties keep prices and supply in equilibrium.
