When I'm going for size, I train heavy all the time. The only exception is when I start to get little aches and pains that won't go away, from lifting heavy for so long. When you get there, go for a lighter, high rep week to heal up.

i always train heavy, sometimes heavier than other, but i train the big three heavy, alwas trying to add 5 lbs.if you start a cutting cycle it will help you to still push you main moves heavy and throw in your smaller "cutting" exercise like your preacher curls or kickbacks, cable flyes, whatever.one time i cutup and i dropped my main moves down to higher reps and i lost mass bigtime.eversince,i leave the squat, benchdeadlift, low rep and heavy.i thro in some small stuff like i mentioned above and between that anddiet i held more mass and dropped bodyfat.just my .02.
