Bulking on $20.00 a week

For 3 months now i have been eating and training real hard. I have gained 33lbs or so and have seen some excellent results. I think this was the newbie gains. I am finding it very hard to put on weight. My mum does not buy enough food for me and I think this is the reason why i am not able to put on weight. She refuses to buy me anymore food as I polish off all the food with in the first 2-3days and its costing her money. I was wondering what kind of quality foods can I get for a $20.00(AU) a week budget I have put aside for myself.

My stats:
AGE:17
WEIGHT:198lbs
HEIGHT6'1

My goal is to reach 208lbs then start cutting.

Thanx :)

what'll 7 gallons of whole milk and 7 dozen eggs cost you? eat that on top of your normal diet and i imagine you'll gain some weight

20$ is 2 days food for me, when Im conservative. If you join up at a warehouse like Costco's, BJ's, or SAM's you can get a decent amount of meat for 20$. But its likely your going to need more then 20$ a week for food if you really want to gain. Youll need to get some carbs too. Rice is cheap enough. Tuna isnt too expensive in bulk. But 20$ for a week wont likely get you much food for bulking.

If you can digest milk and eggs that should work. Thats probabally around 30$

why do you only want to gain 10more lbs and then cut?? MAn your only 17, you should bulk for another 3years!! Dont worry about cutting, take advantage of your high test and metabolism....it'll never be this good again

Well, milk is a good source of nutrients (to some) and it's quick, easy calories. Not a bad amount of protein in it, either. I love my milk, so I'm drinking it even if it is all nasty shit that cows eat (according to another user). It doesn't bother me enough. It's really your call. You may get a bit bloated from the milk, but rest assured, this will give the illusion of being thicker than you are (in terms of fat) then once you cut out dairy, that will go away in a few days.

Yea I wouldnt worry about cutting for a long time. Ive been training 9 years straight and still have no plans on cutting anytime soon. As for milk I drink 1/2 gallon a day. A good amount of calories and protien.

do you have an afterschool or weekend job? this might help up your funds so you can down more chow and poss get some supplements such as protein powder or a good mrp.

Is drinking alot of milk really important when bulking. The only time I drink milk is when I have cereal.

Cereal is NOT a bulking food by any means...

Thanx for the replies, I plan on cutting and bulking at the same time, is it possible at my age and high testosterone. I dont do any cardio at all but I may add HIIT for 3 days a week is this a good idead?

Yeah I have a weekend job and I already spend a shit load on supplements while trying to save money for a car all at the same time as finishing my last year of school.

I think that cutting and bulking at the same time is like a Shampoo and Conditioner in One product. It happens and it can work to an extent...but what you get is a shampoo that really doesn't clean very well and a conditioner that doesn't really condition very well either.

lol good analogy bfold :D

destroyer you could try doing a limited amount of cardio while bulking. Chances are it will keep fat gain to a minimum while you can still gain in your lifts. When do you lift? Morning, night? If you lift at night keep the cardio in the morning, or after weights. Don't do it right before, or even 4 -5 hours before, it will sap your strength, IMO.

Tuna is way cheap. I get a pound and a half of ground turkey for a dollar-fifty and a 5 pound bag of chicken breasts for 9 bucks at a volume meat store. You're gonna need some fat and carbs, but that's what mom's for.

Yes, I do train at night around 5pm so I might start the cardio in the morning 1hr before I eat right? I also eat alot of eggs, turkey, tuna, bread, alot of pasta as I am italian its in my blood and also eat alot of meat for dinner aswell.

excellent post, beautifully put and 100% true

By the way man, check out the Synpax Diet v.2 post on the diet board. I bumped it for you. My own cheap bulking diet was on there as well. It's not $20 a week, but it can give you some good ideas. Try and make a deal with the parents. $10 from each, and then find some means of getting money yourself.

Onerep, where do you get a pound and a half of ground turkey for $1.50?
I have gotten it at Winn Dixie and at Super Walmart. I live in Mississippi, not sure if that has something to do with it. What do you pay?
