its all about insulin control, and whether youre dieting or bulking. Fat does add quite a bit of calories to your BMR, being 2x as caloricly dense as protein and carbs; however fat also has the ability to lower insulin response. Lower insulin = less chance of fat gain. but at the same time, more fat to lower insulin = more calories. While bulking i personally think you want the insulin response. more insulin = more anabolism = more muscles.

This is where a little brain work is needed, it takes a while to know your bodies reaction to certain foods, but once youve mastered it, your goals will always be within reach everytime.

theres no "rule" i think its just a misconception based on logical thinking in our part.

i think the idea is that with a high carb/high fat meal, you would create an insulin spike and at the same moment be supplying your body with a lot of fat. the result is that excess fat from your meal is shuttled into fat cells thanks to the insulin spike. thats why you want your meals to be either high protein/high carb or high protein/high fat.

you dont want to mix high glycemic carbs with fats, as they will induce a rapid rise in insulin which will pull all the nutrients (including fats if present) into the tissue

This is what i meant by logical thinking in our part ( no flame)

When carbs are consumed the body creates an insilin spike. When carbs are consumed with fat the insulin spike is significantly less, but at the same time stable~.

For example if you have a blood glucose meter you can experiment youself. Eat any high gi carb wait till it settles then take a reading; the meter will show high spike. Now preceeding that reading immediatly eat some greasy sausage or a couple teaspoon of flax...take another reading....Glucose will be stable. Makes sence?

I think that part of the reason why carbs and fat are not good to eat together is because it is truly USELESS combo, we as BB combine specific foods to optimize anablism. With carbs we want protein. Fat does have its place, but when eating big meals consisting of High carb and high protein, it would be in your best interest to keep fat as low as possible, to optimize muscle growth.

For these reasons fat plays a key role in dieting(keeping insulin low). afterall its all about insulin manipulation.
