Buddy just brought back some Absinthe

Yeah I have used it when I was up in Canada.
Its fun, good stuff, mildly hallucinagenic if you drink enough.
I did about 4-5 drinks worth, and I felt that shit hardcore.
My hangover wasn't TOO bad, but my buddy who drank about 8-10 drinks passed out early and woke up with his head feeling like it was in a vice.
I'd go conservative with it your first time.. start slow.

i had 8 drinks in canada when i was there and the shit knocked my ass out hardcore.. worst hangover ever.. no hallucinations though but i was VERY shitty.. the stuffs like 160 proof? just dont drink it straight like some of my other stupid american friends almost did

What did you mix it with?
And yeah, when I say 4-5 drinks, I am talking 4-5 100+ proof drinks.

I had a couple shots of absynthe while I was in Berlin. It was prepared by lighting the sugarcube on fire and after it melted drinking the shot.. Tasted like licorice..
As far as effects go, it felt like alcohol with a twinge of wackiness.. I noticed myself overthinking stupid shit.. There were no visuals or anything like that, just the occasional trippy thoughts..

It's not the alcohol, it's the wormwood.

to be technical, its the thujone that causes the effects that distinguish it from "regular" alcohol, the thujone is found in wormwood that is used in the distilling or aging process.crak600 said:

its not a hard thing to make yourself, but if you steep it for too long you can wind up in hospital

i had it in prague, berlin, paris, and even in 2 bars in london, and didn't experience any drug like effects. I'd say that they have all but taken out the wormwood, understandably...
its a bit of a turistic thing buy, but fun to try it out, but keep in mind that you feel like a train has hit you the next day - thats how bad the hangover was.

it depends on the mg of thujone per kg. europe has a cap at 10 mg per kg, the bottle we had has 35 mg per kg. The logan fils is supposedly the best, i'm wanting to think it's around 100. anyways, we drank it last night, it was good. i bet the 100 would be a totally different experience.
only had enough for each of us to have 3 shots. had an unexpected guest show up so of course we let him in on the action as well. i definately had more energy than i do when i normally drink, things seemed a little brighter (visually) than normal, none of my friends noticed this though so perhaps that could be myself over analyzing the difference. there was a little more euphoria than with drinking alone. i think our plans are to purchase a bottle of the stronger stuff to give a try next time. it had a very bitter aftertaste with a strong licorice flavor as well. i added about 4 oz of water to one of my shots along with the sugar to attempt to calm it down a bit. didn't mellow it as much as i thought it would. however, i can definately see this becoming a semi-frequent habit.
