I've been on bromo 3 days now. I take 2.5 mg in the morning with food. When it hits peak concentration in my blood 2 hrs later I get nauseated and light headed. I have to dry heave, forcing myself to throw up to get rid of the nausea feeling. I am also tired/light headed so I take a nap while it's peaking in my blood. Then I'm okay after that. During the day I'm not hungry and am currently eating 1,000 calories a day. That's even hard to eat!
The side effects are getting less as the days go by. Today is my third day and I've noticed that after about 10 hrs after taking bromo I start to get my appetite back. So, today I took 1.25 mg more in the mid afternoon. I did not get that nausea feeling, I feel fine. Just not hungry.
I should mention that everything is much harder to do in regards to working out and cardio. I'm used to Clen or ECA to help give me that hopped up feeling which I miss for the added energy. Now I am tired most of the time until about mid day when bromo seems to wear off.
I will say that I've noticed my internal temp has gone up. I have lost 5 lbs in 3 days. I'm sure some of that is water, so don't get too excited yet. Bromo is great in that you can actually starve yourself and your body will not catch on to what your doing. Meaning you won't loose muscle, just fat. Plus, starving yourself is easy (so far) because your not hungry.
I should also mention that I am a female bodybuilder just coming off a 12 week AS cycle. I've read that bromo is supposed to get all your hormonal systems in check and help to preserve your muscle gains after a cycle (accoriding to Lyle McDonald's book Bromocriptine). I guess we'll see if it's true!
Some good things I've noticed with Bromo are my sex drive has gone up (bromo is used to treat infertility so mayble that has something to do with it), and I've been sleeping great at night.
I should mention unless you are a post-menopausal woman, Bromo for fat loss will only occur if you have a caloric deficit.
Other facts: Bromo's half life is 15hrs. To reduce sides take it in the AM. This is because dopamine is lowest in the morning and higher in the evening (so is Gh which Bromo also stimulates). Bromo is a dopamine agonist which means that it acts just like dopamine when it binds to the dopamine receptors in your brain. If you take it when your natural dopamine is high (at night) your side effects will be worse.
Unfortunatly Bromo does not work with beta agonist drugs like Clen and Ephedrine. You can take caffiene. Synephrine helps bromo get across the blood brain barrier to bind to dopamine receptors so synephrine makes it more effective. Synephrine is cheap, it's in many ephedra free products and diet pills.
A common myth I've read on the boards is about bromo and Gh. If you have acromegaly (giantism) then bromo will decrease Gh. If you are a normal person bromo will increase Gh.
Hopes this helps some people out there. Bromo for fat loss must be relativly new because it's hard to find results of people using it for that. I'll keep my results posted as I go along.
One last thing, I should mention to those of you thinking of taking it for fat loss. I asked Lyle McDonald about what happens when you go off Bromo and your nice and lean. Here's what he told me:
> Lyle, I'm getting ready to start using Bromocriptine to help me
>loose fat. I have two questions which I didn't find in your e-book.
>When I achieve the desired level of leanness I want, if I stop taking the
>drug will my body all of the sudden figure out that it's not as fat as it
>thought it was and cause me to gain back all the fat I lost?
Fundamentally, you haven't changed anything in the brain that's causing the
problems of bodyfat being far below what your setpoint is. So metabolism
is going to shift negatively when you come off the drug. Of course, yo'ull
only gain the fat back IF you start overeating again. As long as you can
deal with the hunger/metabolic slowdown problems, the fat won't magically
come back on at sub-maintenance calories. But metabolism will shift back
towards a 'your body hates you' sort of scenario when you come off the drug
. This is basically true of any drug, you're still not fixing the
underlying problem that the drug is correcting. In this cae, the problem
is with brain wiring.
>When coming off Bromocriptine do I need to cycle it down in dosage?
Good question. Dunno offhand. I cna't imagine it will hurt to shift from
5 mg/day to 2.5 mg/day. If nothing else, it'll avoid your appetite shooting
off the charts, maybe help with maintaining some food control as you come
off the diet.
Lyle
Seems to me that if I'm gonna get lean and stay that way I'll be taking bromo year round.
Cheers!
