basically, this is how it is going to go down in the US.

government will let identity theft get so out of control that they will be forced to find a 'solution'. they will go on and on about the dangers to the individual, the collective, national security, etc/

this will be sold as the only 'true way' for the problem of identity theft / counterfeiting to be fixed.

The way things are going it will happen in the US before it happens anywhere else.

Cisco has the Technology for that already... granted, today you wear the chips. The technology is used in dangerous environments (think Chemical plant) were a user not moving for say, 30 secs, could indicate he collapsed or it's unconscious.... This thing is so accurate that your breathing is considered "moving".

It uses regular wlan as well... one single server can track 20.000 chips in real time and draw locations in a map.
