Britney's real voice while singing

Holy crap that is awful...but I'm not surprised at all.
:Chef: :tuc:

I love these. Have you heard the Enrique Iglesias one, or the Linda McCartney?

WOW, that was bad....... thank God there was a backing track...... she couldn't even whale call like most of her competition does. You know the whale call. Damn, Brit needs lessons. Maybe not having J.T.'s cawk in her mouth and the sheot with that uh, whats his name guy, she needs to readjust.

You think that was real or a fake dub.

That was pretty bad, but I've thought for a long time that she probably can't sing at all because all her tracks her voice seems to be edited so much that it sounds synthesized, almost.

meh, who cares? I mean really... does it REALLY matter if that is what she sounds like without all the technology? Hell, that would be like expecting a supermodel to look like they appear in shoots in reality.

:whatever:

She is the princess of pop for goodness sakes not Julie Andrews.

I see and intellectually have no qualms understanding your viewpoint, especially as a musician. However, if the fans like her show and continue to buy her albums then who are we to judge?

Seriously, it is ENTERTAINMENT, not brain surgery. Who cares if it is enhanced or faked as long as the fans feel that they are getting what they paid for?

I work in the music industry, and this is no surprise. However...

Brittany can sing. And she can sing really well too. You think dancing like that and singing go hand in hand? If you listen carefully, you realize her voice is good, just that she is so winded from the stage performance (gay if you ask me) that she can't sing and hold a note.

Ever get winded and you can barely talk to someone next to you without taking 50 breaths in every sentence. That's what's happening here. It doesn't mean she sucks at singing.

And as far far as voicing and vocal technology goes, (I am working on the latest vocal technology product right now AAMOF) that you can't correct a shitty singer to make them sound amazing. You need a good singer to use technology and make them sound perfect. Pitch correction only goes so far. If you are a half note off, you can get it corrected. but if you are all over the map like anyone that sucks, you can't process the voice enough to get it to sound good without sounding uber robotic.

point is, these stars can sing, but they do lipsync on stage for obvious reasons. You think Michael Jackson always sang live? lol, not even. After a while, all he did was lip sync his own recordings. And can MJ sing? Hell yeah he can. He's damn amazing, but with elaborate dancing even the king of pop would sound like crap.

What he said. Also, what BM said. Britney is not a singer, she's a performer. She puts on a show. And yeah, dancing like she does and singing? Nearly impossible. I don't think she's a great singer....some of the things she does with her voice that make it distinctively hers annoy me. But she's definitely better than what she sounds like there. comparing seeing her in concert with seeing van halen is ridiculous lol....apples and oranges.

You're still alive???

People buy her CDs because they like the way she dances???

The two things that have ruined modern music are compressed mastering and vocal pitch correction. Combined, they have rendered most new music unlistenable. Some of the shit that Melodyne is working on now is scary.

As for Britney, in the studio she doesn't have to sing more than a line or two at a time, that shit is edited together from dozens of takes. So she still doesn't have to be all that great a singer for them to create an acceptable take.

lmao

When I was a kid Howard Stern played her mic feed and it was awful. They dubbed cats wailing in with it and kept playing it over and over. I almost crashed I was laughing so hard.

I'm glad I'm not in that phase, and the bands I listen to actually sing, or did sing before they bit the bullet. I don't understand all the wardrobe changes and all that stuff. Just sing. Dag, shows where they want the industry to go. Then you have the bands out there who are very very good and well.......... they vanish. They didn't have 20 costumes..... but it's kid music, though some of Britney's stuff is kinda, you know, a little older crowd if ya know what I mean.

You think Rock artists from the 60-90's didn't edit their vocals or combine multiple takes into one track?

Every single studio album has been mixed and technologically enhanced to the best that that era's technology allowed.

VH for example. You think Sammy Hagar just sang the track once? I guarantee he sang some of those tracks 100's of times to get them perfect for studio production. Sammy is a great singer.

Anyways,
I hate brittany spears music, but she doesn't suck.

I mention live bands who sing. That was bad taste to post that about her. Damn, for real. Yeah it's funny, but man, she dances (tries) and well...... at least she is straight enough to move LOL .....

This vid explains how her voice changed.

She was a very talented little girl. Now she even admits she wishes she could sing like Christina Aguilera.

Around 2000 her voice went to shit.

shouldn't we though hold "singers" to a certain standard of vocal talent? I mean, I get what you're saying....everything is fake.......but maybe if everyone saw what models really look like when they wake up in the morning or what useless cunts like britney "really" sound like......maybe we'd start becoming a "real" society again that produces "real" creativity.....just a thought. :whatever:

You guys keep talking about her in present tense - everything you say should be "was"

In the '60s for most of the decade they didn't have anything better than 4-track recorders, so opportunities for massive amounts of punch-ins and overdubs were very limited.

But yeah, producers have always been willing to push the limits of technology to get the best recorded takes. But the bands from the '60s and '70s that I like were at least able to perform their material live.

As for Sammy and VH, I couldn't care less.

By the way, there's an isolation track of DLR's original studio vocal track on "Runnin' With The Devil" floating around. It's funny, not because it's bad, but because of all the stupid noises he makes between verses.

Remind me next time to tell my lead singer to lipsynch on stage, cuz it's "so exhausting". Maybe i'll also play my guitar riffs over a cd track. Then charge $40/ticket!
