Britain Vs. USA: Battle of the Bands

Why do many of the British publications despise bands that make it big over here...for example Bush, The Police, Duran Duran, etc?

Hm, well, it seems the Brits have better taste in music....and, well, Bush just sucks. I didn't know they hated Duran Duran and The Police...Also, I must say, I spent the summer in England, and Shaggy and N'Sync were on the radio all the time, so maybe there's just NO accounting for taste anymore...

My favorite experience was in Brighton seeing smart cars bumping Jay-Z...WTF? I can bench press those cars...But, I don't know, Travis and Coldplay are getting pretty popular here, I don't think the Brits hate them yet...
