Im currently on a diet, Trying to shed some pounds build up muscle. I've been eating alot cleaner for the last few weeks, Cut out cheese and switched to skim milk - cheese is now the enemy. Although my problem is, is that i dont eat mean/chicken/fish etc.. so I've been substituting meat protien with shakes etc.. But that doesnt fill me up at all, I love bread and pasta, I eat 2 bagels (plain) a day and a small serving of pasta for lunch or dinner , is this bad? are they "clean" carbs??

As long as you are burning off more calories than you are eating, then fat gain will not be a problem. Keep the breads and pasta consumption to the early part of the day. Try adding some kind of healthy fat to your protein shakes so that it will prolong gastric emptying. You could also add in some vegetables to take advantage of its dietary fiber effect on slower gastric emptying too. Also, with the bagels, you could add some all-natural peanut butter on them to lower the GI rate, thus it will help keep insulin levels lowered/stable.
