jd_uk said:Yep. Fighting in front of 60,000 fans in my home city of Cardiff. Should be a good fight by all accounts. Many people are calling it the biggest fight in the world although maybe Hatton v Mayweather will overshadow it. Either way Calzaghe will retire a legend if he wins and retires.

I have never seen Kessler fight so I can't make a prediction for this fight - but I will be watching. I just hope these two beat the crap out of each other (i.e. Ward vs. Gatti)
They may have - but lets not just assume it's because they were afraid of him in the ring. If they did avoid him - it could have everything to do with money.jd_uk said:This i think is true but many Americans try to see it the other way around.
I'm a southpaw - so I don't think that's why. I don't know - I'll watch this fight and see if I can't find some redeaming qualities.biteme said:Maybe because he's a southpaw? He domimanted every round over Jeff Lacy who was an olympic champion.. The dude is for real... So is Hatton, who I watched beat the great Kosta Tszu. Can't wait for that fight either.

I really think that Mayweather kicks the shit out of Hatton. In my opinion - Hatton is never in this fight. Lets not forget Tszu was coming off a shoulder injury and a long lay off.
Yep - this is pretty kick ass.biteme said:Either way we've got 2 great fights coming up between 4 long time undefeated champions. You can't ask for better than that.

Agreed on the Cotto fight - I pick Mosely in a late round knockouthawaiianflash said:This is an awesome fight and the type that boxing needs. I've seen Calzaghe fight several times and he is legit. He has great speed, power, and throws punches from all angles. However, he gets a bit cocky on defense and can be hit. If Calzaghe doesn't break his hand, he'll win this one quite easily. I'm predicting a 116-112 unanimous decision for Calzaghe.
I'm a bit more interested in the Cotto vs. Mosely fight... I have know idea who'll win that one.

jd_uk said:Have you seen Kessler fight? I'm not so confident that Calzaghe will win comfortably (Kessler seems very up for it and also has an excellent record) but then it's hard to doubt Calzaghe.
hawaiianflash said:Kessler is a huge supermiddleweight. Wow... his arms are massive and I wonder what weight he will be tomorrow night. His photos from the weigh in are impressive. I've seen highlights on you tube of his fighting but haven't seen a full fight. He's fought nobody's and his biggest win is against Mundine (not that great). I'm making my prediction that speed and power (Calzaghe) will beat power (Kessler).

hawaiianflash said:Great fight! Calzaghe is legit. I thought he showed tremendous heart by withstanding some great shots from Kessler. I was questioning Calzaghe's punching power because he looked like he was slapping and not firing with authority. However, he had Kessler badly hurt by a body punch and the ref broke up the action to warn him for no reason (around round 7)... WTF!?! this fight could have ended in knockout much sooner. I still cannot believe that Kessler can be both taller and thicker than Calzaghe. Kessler was one dimensional and showed very little head movement (typical european style) and Calzaghe shredded him with the jab.

reno240 said:I was going to watch the fight and look for something I liked in Calzaghe. Seeing as I hadn't seen him fight much and when I did - there was something I didn't like. Well, I watched the fight - this man has a chin made of granite. He took two upper cuts straight to the jaw and he didn't budge - very impressive. He is faster than I thought too. I still think he's off balance too much and too ticky tack at times, but he's a tough tough boxer to beat.
Kessler's not done. That kid is good. Get some upper body movement going and he'll be great. He punches like a freight train.
jd_uk said:Yep he took some huge shots and i think Calzaghe himself that said after the fight that Kessler will only improve and go on to great things. Calzaghe wasn't completely at his best in this fight though but he still won comfortably in the end despite such a good show from Kessler. He's calling out all the best American boxers at light heavyweight now so it will be interesting to see how those fight goes. He wants to retire in 12 months and is looking at 2 major fights in that time to get the recognition he deserves.
